By SOD • Posted: Jan 16, 2012 A mere week after DAYS announced that Tanya Boyd would be returning to the role of Celeste, a casting call was put out for the character. Despite Internet reports of health problems, a show spokesperson says, "Reports are incorrect. We were unable to move forward with Tanya due to scheduling conflicts." The show is now seeking a "65-75-year-old gorgeous African American female... She comes back to Salem to be with her family and help keep them safe.... Please submit very strong established name actors who can really dive into this material and make it their own." Oh yuck. I wish they would have just let us believe the health issue because I am not sure I can buy anyone else as Celeste.

Maybe Lexie will finally get a decent story instead of being chained to her dull and incredibly ancient husband. He has been holding her back for years.

Aww i was so excited about hearing the news that Celeste was coming back. I wish she could have come back for the scenes.

EW has learned exclusively that Beverly Todd (Crash, Bucket List) will join NBC’s Days of Our Lives as Celeste, the nutty mom of Lexie Carver (Renee Jones). Todd will first appear on April 3 for a multi-episode arc. Here’s how the producers described Celeste when they put out the call for a "gorgeous African-American female": “Celeste is a unique character in every way. She has had a very sordid past with many errors in judgment. Celeste is a tarot card reader and somewhat of a fortune teller although usually tends to have visions of doom for people. She has a strong bond with her daughter and grandson and she is very protective of them. She comes back to Salem to be with her family and help keep them safe.” Todd is taping now. |
