Freddie Smith announced on his YouTube channel that he and Chandler have been let go. Their last air date will be in Sept.
About 13 minutes long - things sound pretty dire at Days.

Thanks kathyj. Agree that it sounds pretty bad there. I hate it for everyone that is losing their jobs. Good luck to Freddie and Chandler on their next adventures......whether it be at Days or elsewhere.

I knew that baby surrogacy storyline was too good to be true. That's not enough time for Will to be released from prison, the truth to come out, Will and Sonny reuniting and remarrying, finding a surrogate, and having a baby.
Unless they find one off-screen and they pull a Justin and Adrienne after Sonny was born (Have Marlena or Kate [or even Abigail will bring it full circle!]) get a phone call from Will or Sonny announcing the birth of their baby.

When the show announced that they were ending all actor contracts and then asking some to sign new contracts, I knew we'd be losing some beloved characters. These two had so much potential. I'm really disappointed that we won't get to see that play out onscreen.

Haven't had a chance to watch yet so I don't know about the "dire" part. It is sad but I don't get too upset about anyone getting let go anymore because so many people return after being let go. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or both of them back AND September seems pretty far away. They'll still be on for a while. I say all this as if I'm still watching. Edit. Watched the video. One thing I'm confused about though - I thought the time off was to closing the gap between film and air time. If they are filming shows for August or September that doesn't sound like the case. Am I missing something?

Maybe this is a plan to get people to start watching again and/or get fans to start hollering about it so the PTB can show the networks the show is worth the investment.

When I called the mood at Days dire, I was referring to the atmosphere of uncertainty Freddie described on the set. There is a vid out of a visibly upset Camila Banus (Gabi) talking about standing up for herself and not taking less so others can have more. I will post it if I run across it again.
Resting characters is not a bad idea. I’m sure Sonny and/or Will will be back in the future.
I wonder if some of the vets will move from contract to recurring status?

I heard/read somewhere (I think it was about Galen) that they are now filming 8 months ahead? How do you have a hiatus and not close that gap? Are these people working that much overtime to get the scenes in?

I saw that video of Camilla. It was odd. She was on the verge of tears and I wondered if it had to do with Days or something else. Hope it’s not too bad there. I’m sure it’s scary watching people lose their job and wondering if you’ll be next.

Wow that video of Camilla is intense. I know they are trying to save the show by cutting salaries and letting actors go but they will not save the show that way. People will not want to watch if they let too many good characters go.

I'm really disappointed that we won't get to see that play out onscreen. They have grown on me, especially Will. And I liked his scenes with Ben too. Even though I used to not care much for Will and Sonny, I will miss them because they have become more interesting to me and they seem like such an integral part of the show.

I used to like these two a lot but Will and Sonny have been stuck in a repetitive loop for the last couple years. They also cannot stay loyal to each other. I'm ready for a break from them. They are both talented actors and I am sure they will find work soon.
As for Camilla, I cannot work up any sympathy for her. I don't know the background, but we all go through a lot in the course of our life and it has nothing to do with fair or not fair. It's life. She's just an actress, an actress in a privileged profession and she has no clue how hard most people have to work for a living and for a lot less money than she is likely making. I hope she's okay, but I don't feel bad for her.

Also I enjoyed the unlikely friendship between Will and Ben. I don't feel that bad for Camilla but maybe there was more involved than a lower salary, maybe they insulted her in some way.
