NOTE: You will notice several differences in this story to how the actual show is. Some of the major differences: Brady and Chloe still being together. Philip and Melanie still being together. Philip being in Salem. This is because I have set this story in a different canon than the actual TV series. It's an “alternate universe”, if you will. Anyway, enjoy!
Chapter 1
The year is 2011. Several veterans have returned to Days of Our Lives in the last few months. Many infamous events happened during this time. The doctor who murdered Michael Jackson has been found guilty. And, really, he shouldn't have left the medications in the room while he wasn't there. Muammar Ghaddafi was killed by the U.S. government. And (at the time if writing) one of his sons is still on the run. 268 years ago, Charles Dickens thought desperately of a tail for the Christmas holiday. After several hours hard thought, he comes up with the story of a miser and the spooks which haunt him. And it is that tale that I offer to you tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to present my adaptation of Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol”.

Our story begins on December the 24th on the snowy streets of Salem. Despite the snow, the cold, and the fact that several of them haven't even bought their presents for their loved ones, people still find the time to stand around, talking about the one secret that they would hate for their worst enemy to find out. Of course, their worst enemy is only a few feet away, but they seem to have gone temporarily deaf. Also, once they arrive at the Horton Christmas Party, all of the presents are under the tree, as if they were bought while “off screen”. But their joviality does not last long as they dare to cross the path of one Victor Kiriakis. The words “charity” and “compassion” have little to no meaning to Victor. Neither does the word “antidisharmoniouslyreoperativepolarisation”, but then again, that's just a word I've made up. This is the kind of man who only has one response to human kindness.
HORTON TOWN SQUARE
VICTOR: Bah, humbug!
As he walked down the street, Victor ran into his grandson, Brady Black.
BRADY: Merry Christmas, grandfather!
VICTOR: Bah, humbug! I despise Christmas!
BRADY: Oh, don't be like that, grandfather. It's the festive season, after all. Anyway, I was wondering if you would like to join Chloe and I for Christmas dinner tomorrow.
VICTOR: I doubt it, my boy. Christmas is just like any other day. It's a day for making money. I don't see why Christmas is anything so special that I shouldn't be making money. Besides, I can't understand why you would want to spend Christmas with a tramp like Chloe Lane.
BRADY: Please, grandfather, not today. Can't you just lay off the insults for one day?
VICTOR: As long as my grandson throws his life away for a no-good gold-digging tramp, no. Now, get out of my way. I'm a busy man. Good afternoon.
Victor walked away. Brady continued to call after him.
BRADY: Fine, grandfather. You keep Christmas in your way, and I'll keep it in mine.
VICTOR: Good afternoon.
BRADY: Have a Merry Christmas, grandfather!
VICTOR (angrily): Good afternoon!
BRADY: And a Happy New Year!
VICTOR (yelling angrily): Good afternoon!!!
