Hello, fellow writers!
I was just thinking about how we've all had some major chronic complaints about the storylines on Days lately. As a result, I have a question for all of you: If you were part of the Days of Our Lives writing team and were working with the current storylines, what would you do to make the show better? My answer is this. First off, I would backtrack with Haley and Melinda and really start building them up as characters before involving them in any other storylines. I would do this by writing scenes that show them working on their relationship as mother and daughter since I feel that the current writers threw us that gigantic curve ball and then failed to do anything with it. In my opinion, it is not good writing to do something like that. Next, I would finally move Sarah into a relationship with Xander and build a love story based on acceptance of each other's faults since everyone else in Salem always seems to be out to change them. They might naturally change into better people on their own by loving each other for who they are. To create drama for them, I would write that triple who's the daddy? storyline that I've mentioned a few times, but the baby would ultimately be Xander's in the end. Finally, I would give Ciara more to do in life than just follow Ben around. I would maybe make her follow in her mother's footsteps by doing something with police or investigative work. She and Ben could work together since he is head of security for Stefan. These are my ideas for now. So what would you guys do? Have fun being creative and making suggestions!

Great topic idea, booksoapwriter81. I would eliminate triangles. Yes, I know they're a soap staple, but they are overdone and lazy writing. I would create organic drama for couples, like we used to see when Bo and Hope were getting together and Kayla and Steve. It made couples more rootable. I'd give Brady a break from women. It's hard to take him seriously when he falls madly in love two or three times a year. I'd rather see him put his energy into running Titan. Speaking of which, not everyone is qualified to be a CEO, except in Salem. Unrealistic. Lastly I'd put a stop to bringing people back from the dead. It's hard to feel sad when someone dies in Salem because we know there's a good chance they'll be back. Don't kill everyone off. Problem solved.

Like the topic idea here's how I would change things ……
I wouldn't have Sarah in a relationship at all
I would eliminate the whole possibility of Nicole been back
I would give JnJ their happy ever after
I would stop bringing people back from the dead
I would write out The DiMera's
I would bring back Lucas and Sami on recurring contracts.
I would bring in Allie Horton to add some teen drama

I like the ideas of having Brady focus on his job rather than finding love for once and of bringing back people like Allie Horton to create a new teen scene. You guys are also right that bringing people back from the dead needs to stop. I don't think any of us take deaths of characters seriously anymore because so many have come back after supposedly being killed off. I think there are also some who have come back more than once.
