I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I actually kinda liked Jan. Sure, she was completely crazy, tried to ruin Belle's life, and put Shawn-D in a cage. I don't know what it is, but I liked her.

Can somebody help me with something, please? How long ago was it that Jan went into a coma?

Hey Andre, thanks for contributing a new Characters Welcome thread.

The actress who played Jan for the longest did a very convincing job of playing a mean girl. And then she got us to feel sorry for her after she was brutalized by Paul Mendez.

I can't remember when she went into the coma, but it has to be at least 5 years, I'd say.

The very awful Charity Rahmer that played Belle for 14 days was also in this scene with Jan Spears:









So is she still in coma?? This actress played her to a tee as you can see!

Just an interesting note about the actress, Charity Rahmer, that played Belle as you say for 14 days is that she was fired BEFORE any of her tapings were aired...so she was hired and fired before she ever appeared on on our screens.....

Oh, I loved Jan Spears! Yes, I admit that with no shame....okay, mostly no shame. She was one of my 'guilty pleasure' characters, especially during the Shawn-in-a-cage stuff. I have no idea how long ago she went into that coma, but I vaguely remember something about her parents dying in a plane crash? maybe.

Heather (Lindell, the most recent verison of Jan) was really good at looking crazy, evil, and kinda hot all at the same time. Although I hate to admit it, the Love Cage was my favorite storyline at the time that it was on.

Personally, it was Heather Lindell for me. Mainly because I haven't seen much of Heather Lauren Olsen or any of the first actress who played her. However, thanks to YouTube, I can now see some of Jan's earlier appearances. But, I still like Heather Lindell better.'

I like Olsen better. She was the one who played Jan during the Last Blast Teens era (IMO, one of the best storylines on Days ever) and I hated her so much, which means she did a great job playing the part. She was so good at being mean.

I liked Olsen too. I didn't watch when Lindell was on. I missed that whole cage thing. I stopped watching the second I saw that Kristen storms was no longer belle.

Although I doubt that this will happen at any point in the near future, I hope Jan comes back someday. Though, in order for that to happen, Shawn-D and Belle would probably have to come back.

Actually, that's an interesting thought.

Okay, members of MyHourglass, I have a question for you: What kind of storyline could Jan have that doesn't involve Shawn-D and/or Belle?

Well I think she went to a mental hospital the last time we heard of her, so let's say she recovers and goes back home... maybe she can become a grief counsellor for the younguns such as Will, Chad, Melanie. Dogpoop etc.

So, I recently started watching a bunch of the Last Blast dance and Puerto Rico clips on YouTube and I have come to a conclusion: Heather Lauren Olsen is amazing as Jan Spears! I still like Lindell, but Olsen has surpassed her as my favorite portrayer of Jan. There's jsut something about Olsen that makes her in the role of Jan great!
