I am looking forward to the date. I loved hearing Philip's thoughts that he'd drop Valerie in a minute for Chloe.

CHICAGO
After dinner, Philip and Chloe strolled along Michigan Avenue toward the concert hall. It was a chilly November evening, and the sky was clear. There was a full moon and the constellations were visible in the night sky.
Chloe: Brrr. Philip: You cold? Chloe: Yes, aren’t you? Philip put his arm around Chloe and rubbed her other arm with his hand as they continued their walk. Philip: Better now? Chloe: Yes, much better. Philip: I warned you about Chicago winters. They can be brutal. Chloe: And they start early. That’s five. Philip: Five? Five what? Chloe: We’ve passed five blues clubs since we left the restaurant. Philip: That’s one of the things Chicago is known for. If you ever want to sing the blues, you’ll have no trouble finding a job. Chloe: Ha! Considering my life story, I think I could easily sing the blues. And look, that’s the second karaoke bar we passed. You game? Philip: Me? No thank you. Chloe: Why not? Philip looked at his watch. Philip: We have tickets for the symphony in 20 minutes. Expensive tickets, I might add. Chloe: Okay, if you’re chicken, then nevermind. Chloe started to walk ahead of Philip and he caught her hand and held onto it. Philip: Chicken? Who are you calling chicken? I’ve sung karaoke before, young lady. Chloe: Oh I remember. In Mr. Holland’s music class. Philip: And I remember you mocking me the whole time. Chloe: Well Philip, you have to admit, you were pretty ridiculous. Philip: What??? How can you say that? Chloe: An angel-faced 16-year-old boy singing a Rod Stewart ballad about a long-term love affair just did not work. Philip: Oh? Care to tell me why not, Miss Music Critic? Chloe: Because, Rod Stewart is known for being this gravelly-voiced, worldly, womanizing stud and ... Philip: And ...? Chloe: Okay, well maybe you could get away with it today, but at 16, imitating Rod Stewart singing “You’re In My Heart” was just ... funny. Especially the part about the “big-bosomed lady.” Philip: I’ll admit singing that part was a little embarrassing. But not as humiliating as you and Belle laughing at me while I was performing. Chloe: Aw, are you scarred for life? Philip: Yes, I am. Chloe: Well, if it makes you feel any better, we made fun of Shawn too. He was trying to be all three Bee Gees. Philip: Now that was funny. Chloe: It really was. Philip: Hey ... As they reached the symphony hall, Philip faced Chloe and took both of her hands in his. Philip: This is nice. The two of us being together like this. It feels right. Chloe: I think so too. Philip leaned in to kiss Chloe when someone called Chloe’s name. Woman: Chloe, is that you? Chloe: Rachel! Chloe and Rachel embraced. Chloe: Oh my gosh. I can’t believe it. I haven’t seen you since ... Rachel: Since Vienna. You look great. How are you? Chloe: I’m good. How are you? Rachel: Just fabulous. Chloe: Are you going to the symphony too? Rachel: Yes, I’m waiting for someone. Um, aren’t you going to introduce me to ... Chloe: Oh, of course. Sorry. Rachel Green, this is my friend, Philip Kiriakis. Philip winced at being called “friend.” Chloe: Philip, this is Rachel Green, my former talent agent. Philip shook Rachel’s hand. Philip: Nice to meet you. Rachel: Likewise. So, Chloe, I heard you had a baby. Chloe: Yes! His name is Parker. He just turned a year old. Rachel: I’ll bet Brady is a very proud papa. Chloe: Oh, um, Brady and I aren’t together anymore. Rachel: You’re kidding me! I always thought you guys were the perfect couple. I’m so sorry to hear that. The lights outside the concert hall flickered, signalling that the concert was about to start. Philip: We’d better go inside. Rachel: Chloe, give me your phone number. Let’s keep in touch. I may have some opportunities for you.

Rachel Green. My favorite from Friends. I could just picture her when I read the name. Love the way the date is going. So great if Chloe could get a job in Chicago. If not I don't want her having a job. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch

Great chapters! I'd wince at the "friend" reference, too.
Awkward Brady moment, too.

I really enjoyed the chapter Kpatch. What a great date. Too bad Philip was interrupted before he could kiss Chloe. I'm sure Philip was thrilled to be called a friend and then to hear what a great couple Brady and Chloe were.

THE CONDO
After the symphony, Philip and Chloe returned to the condo. Lucinda updated them on Parker, and Philip walked her downstairs and put her in a cab.
When he came back up, Chloe was in Parker’s room. Philip came in and Chloe signalled for him to be quiet because the baby was sleeping. They went into the living room and Philip took Chloe’s hand.
Philip: I had a great time tonight. Chloe: So did I. I felt like myself for the first time in a long time. Philip: I could tell. There was a long pause as they looked at each other. Chloe’s cell phone rang and she was grateful for the interruption. Chloe: Hello? Hi Rachel. No, it’s not too late to call. Uh huh. Yes. No, we’re not, I mean ... Um, I don’t know. I’ll have to ask him. No, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. Yes, I’m sure. No really, we’re just friends. Okay. I’ll call you tomorrow. Bye. Philip got the gist of the conversation and he felt himself getting angry. He and Chloe just had the most amazing date, and now she was on the phone telling another woman they were nothing more than friends. He walked out onto the terrace. A moment later, Chloe followed him out. Chloe: That was Rachel. Philip: So I gathered. Chloe: She asked ... she wants to ask you out to lunch. She wanted to know if you’d be interested in going out with her. Philip: Tell her yes. Chloe: Yes? Philip: Tell her I’d love to go out with her. In fact, give me her phone number and I’ll call her myself.

Boy will the two of them ever learn. As my little 3 year old great niece told me. Just say what you mean. I don't see Phililp and Rachel Green as a couple. Besides she is with Ross and thier baby. (not only that, but Philip and his sister. LOL) Thanks for the chapter Kpatch.

After the things Chloe said about them being just friends, she seemed surprised that Philip would say yes to the lunch date. I'm sure he liked being asked out by a beautiful woman.

Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying this story? Even when they're thisclose to a happy ending and they manage to screw it up, it's still ok.
