Great chapter kpatch.
Poor Chloe. Seems like she's still skittish about the prospect of a relationship and although she has feelings for Philip, I get the feeling she's not quite ready for anything physical. I wish she'd just tell him that though. I'm sure he'd be understanding and take it slow.
But he's not a mindreader, so who can blame him for being weary of the mixed messages and feeling angry when she calls him a friend? LOL at Chloe telling Rachel from FRIENDS that she and Philip are just FRIENDS. Too funny.

THE NEXT MORNING
Chloe got ready to feed Parker. Parker’s eyes were wide with anticipation.
Parker: Mmm. Feeding time! The guys at play group were telling me all about this. They were drooling over my Mom and elbowing me. Jealous much? Ha ha. She’s all mine!
Chloe: Okay Parker. Here’s your juice.
Parker: What’s this? A juice cup? I’ve been robbed. I demand an attorney. Where’s Uncle Justin? This is not what I was promised. Darn, why did Dad have to take me away from Mom just when things were getting good?
Philip came into the kitchen.
Philip: Good morning, Chloe. Hey, Parker.
Philip rubbed Parker’s hair and kissed him on the head.
Parker: Dad, we need to talk!
Chloe: You’re looking quite handsome. New shirt?
Philip: Yeah, too white?
Chloe: No, I think it looks great, but...
Philip: But what?
Chloe: If that’s what you’re wearing on your lunch date with Rachel, it’s a little formal.
Parker: Date? What date? Why was I not informed?
Philip: Too stiff?
Chloe: Definitely too stiff.
Parker: This conversation is getting X-rated. I think I’ll close my ears. La la la la.
Philip: Hmmm, I guess I’m more accustomed to business meetings than dates.
Parker: Oh, that’s right. We were talking about dates. Dad, I forbid you to date any woman who’s not my Mom.
Chloe: I know you said you didn’t want my help but ...
Philip: I didn’t want your help picking out women. But if we’re talking about clothes, I’d be grateful for some advice.
Chloe: Well, what you're wearing is fine for lunch today, but if you go out again, you’ll need something more relaxed. And something that’s not blue.
Philip: Hey, I like blue.
Chloe: Ha! I would never have guessed that. I’ll look in your closet and see what I come up with.

THAI RESTAURANT
Rachel: I’m glad you suggested Thai food. I love Thai. Have you ever been to Thailand?
Philip: No, but I’ve been to other parts of Asia. How about you?
Rachel: I’ve been to Bangkok a couple times. I think I’ve been everywhere. So, do you sing?
Philip laughed.
Philip: Only if you count karaoke.
Rachel: There’s not much call for karaoke in my business. I ... I hope you didn’t think I was too forward, asking for your phone number.
Philip: No, not at all. But I hope it wasn’t because you think I have some kind of talent and you wanted to represent me, because I’m afraid you’ll be sorely disappointed. I have no marketable talents.
Rachel looked at Philip with a gleam in her eye as she reached across the table and took his hand.
Rachel: I have a feeling you have some hidden talents. And I’d like to explore every one of them.
Philip laughed.
Philip: You’re direct. I like that. I tend to be direct too.
Rachel: Good, because ...
Rachel noticed a picture on Philip’s iPhone screen, which was sitting on the table.
Rachel: Aw, that baby is so cute. Who is it?
Philip picked up his phone and looked at the display, then turned it toward Rachel.
Philip: This is my son.
Rachel: You have a son? He’s adorable. What’s his name?
Philip: His name is Parker.
Rachel: No kidding! I guess that’s a popular name these days because that’s also the name of ... of ... Chloe’s baby. ... Is Chloe the mother of your child?
Philip squirmed a bit in his chair and he took a deep breath.
Philip: I didn’t think this was going to come up on a first date, but ... might as well get it over with. Yes. Yes, Chloe is Parker’s mother.
Rachel: She said you were just friends.
Philip: We were. We are. ... Okay, here’s what happened. We got drunk one night. One thing led to another. And nine months later, Parker was born.
Rachel: Hmmm. Is that why Chloe and Brady broke up?
Philip: No, they broke up long before that.
Rachel: I see.
Philip: And since it’s going to come up at some point, I should probably tell you that Chloe lives with me.
Rachel: Wow.
Philip: But like I said, we’re just friends. She lives with me for convenience, so we can raise Parker together.
Rachel: This is really complicated.
Philip: Tell me about it. Listen, I know that most people would have a hard time with all this, and I wouldn’t blame you if you walked away this minute. But ... I like you, Rachel. I’d like to see you again. And at least now you can make an informed decision about whether you want to go out with me again. I’ll respect your decision either way.
Rachel: This is a lot to absorb. I’ll bet it really makes it tough for you to date people. But ... I obviously like you too. And I’ve never been someone who runs from a challenge. So yes, I’d love to go out with you again. After all, I need to find out about those hidden talents of yours.

I seriously don't blame her in the least... He has specifically pointed out that he & Chloe are not a couple, so he is free game! But they ARE a couple... Oh we know that but Chloe needs to learn it herself.. and I am sure she will soon. |

As long as Chloe is throwing mixed signals, there's no reason for Phillip not to date other people. I can't blame Rachel in the least. I'd have jumped at a chance for a date with him as well!
