Do you still have a land line or are you totally wireless?
If you only have a mobile phone, how is that working for you? Do you find it cost effective or is it more expensive than having a land line?
Who's your wireless phone carrier?
Any tips for getting a free phone? They used to offer free phones with a contract, but I think most providers don't have contracts anymore.

We have both. The landline is safer if you have an emergency. The call won't drop and the 911 operator knows the address immediately.
I think free phones are a thing of the past. We recently got new phones on a buy one get one free deal.
We have Verizon. Hubby gets a discount through his employer.

We still have a landline and also prepaid at&t cellphones. I use the cell phone mainly for texting and going online. I'm not sure about free phones but you might be able to get a refurb one pretty cheap.

We got a fee landline with the internet broadband We don’t use it nor do we give out the number I had a telemarketer call over a span of a week, they were quite rude and I told them where to go and offered to draw a map, the landline hasn’t rung since which is perfect for me Mobile plans are cheap In Ireland so I don’t mind

I still have a landline for my DSL and for when the cell signal isn't great at the house. We've made some modifications to help with that, but I like knowing that I have the landline if needed. Plus I can use it to give out when stores want a phone number for a return or purchase. This cuts down on the spam calls on my cell phone.
I don't think free phones or contracts really exist anymore either. I have Verizon and the payment plan/contract now is for the phone itself and is in addition to their monthly fee. You can pay off the device at anytime and then you are eligible for an upgrade or you can drop. No early termination fees or having to wait the previous 2 years to be able to upgrade your phone.

We have a VOIP as in Ooma. It is very inexpensive compared to a landline. We also have our own cell phones thru T-Mobile, but I really don't like to use it as a phone very much. We got a great deal being a senior citizen.

Thanks for your answers, everyone. We have a land line plus one mobile phone for the both of us. Both are expensive. The mobile service is through AT&T and I also get a corporate discount through my employer. I probably got the last free iphone on earth. I work from home and use the land line for work calls. It's got much better sound quality than the cell, generally speaking, especially when everyone else on the call is on a mobile phone.
