And also Ciara's middle name is Alice.

I agree that there are too many characters with Alice in their names on this show already, so it would have been too much to name Abby's new daughter that too. I'm glad they went with a brand new name for Charlotte since it gets repetitive to keep naming newborn babies after family members all the time. In recent years, both of Sami's twins are named after family members (John Black and Alice Horton), Arianna is named after Gabi's sister, Thomas is named after Thomas Horton and Jack Deveroux, and Parker is somehow named after Daniel (I forget what the connection was, but I think it had something to do with who Daniel was before he knew he was Maggie's son). However, I do agree that the reasoning for it is a little strange, especially since, as a few of you guys said, we've never seen Abby read a classic book or even mention that she likes Charlotte Bronte before.

Is there a history for the name? They related it to Charlotte Bronte, Abby's favorite author, which seemed dumb on many levels, not the least of which we had never heard about that before, not that I recall. I didn't even know that Abby reads. booksoapwriter81 It has actually been mentioned many times over the years that Abby loves classic books. Last year Halloween episode was the last time I remember them talking about it. Her nightmare was caused by the book she read before bed. Chad always gets Abby books as presents, that has kind been their thing since college. He even gave her the first copy of Jack's book before it was officially published.
