from daytime royalty daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8592789/1/SOD: DAYS Report Card; October 25th Issue Writing: N/A Newly appointed Head Writers Marlene McPerson and Darrell Ray Thomas Jr.'s scripts have just started airing, but they already deserve an A for neatly wrapping up former scribe Dena Higley's tales. Gone are the dark nights of songbird-turned-hooker Chloe strolling the pier in search of johns and Carly strung out on drugs. In its place are warm, family scenes that strike a more uplifting tone overall. Characters: B There has been some good pruning of the cast and some welcome returns. It's great that John, Marlena, and Jack are back in Salem, not to mention Carrie and Austin. The scenes honoring Tom and Alice were terrific and brought the community together for the first time in years. They have a talented young cast, but have yet to figure out how to properly integrate them into the canvas. Creativity: B Having a large party to kick off the Town Square dedication made it feel like the old DAYS - a good thing. It's an interesting change of pace to see the show get back into the business world. Sure, they're borrowing a page from Y&R's handbook by focusing on makeup companies, but it's been a mainstay of the number one show for years, so why not? The mystery of Alice's bank account seems promising and by rewriting the employment histories of Carrie and Austin, they've opened up new storytelling oppurtunities. Plus, EJ running for mayor is a completely unexpected twist. Production: A The new Horton Town Square is a great addition and a clever use of the limited studio space. It harkens back to the outdoorsy days of Salem Place, provides new nooks and crannies (besides the pier!) in which characters can interact, lurk in the shadows or grab a drink, and offers fresh storefronts and restaraunts. Stellar Points: The main families (the Hortons, Bradys, DiMeras and Kiriakises) are all front and center, with history cleverly being utilized (see Alice's secret bank account). There's good balance between older and younger players, especially within clans: Brady/Victor, Sonny/Adrienne, Abigail/Jennifer to name a few. (Though Caroline's absence is glaring.) Room For Improvement: If this were three months ago, we'd have a laundry list of things the show could do, but since we're still in the early stages of a new head-writing team, we have to take a wait-and-see approach before judging too harshly. Final Grade: B

I wonder who graded these! I give the final show so far a "C"... I am not enjoying the John/Marlena, I thought I would enjoy the Jack/Jenn/Dan triangle, but it's getting repetitive, not big on making Dan Maggie's son, still don't like Austin,, I do like the whole make-up wars though and the set is a nice change of pace and also, enjoy seeing more of Roman. I also need to add I would like less Abe & Lexie.

While I have my own minor complaints about the show,I feel the grading was overall correct.Days is much more watchable now than it was six months ago even.I feel that they're veering away from the Dan/Jenn/Jack triangle and focusing a bit more on his relationship with Abby, which is good.Alice's secret is fabulous in that Days is actually centering a storyline around a character who unfortunately is no longer with us.Out of all the teens, the only ones I find watchable are Chad and Abby (although Abby right now is debatable),I love the new set.So far so good Days!

I like mysteries and I love triangles. Days has 'em both. And no one is in any physical danger. Although it seems the children have been forgotten (where ARE Ciara, Johnny, Sydney, Allie, et al?), which in some cases isn't all that bad. But I would like to see them once in a while.

Yeah, that child actress playing Ciara is annoying!! But I hate that the kids aren't even mentioned. Bo and Hope don't even seem to be concerned about finding childcare for her. Who does she stay with all the time? Is she with Caroline and all of Sami's kids?

It bugs me that we only see Johnny. When Sami was at home with Madison, the only kid we saw was Johnny. Where were Sydney and Allie?

Oh I completely agree, but is just seems lopsided and unfair to the other actors.

Yeah it does. That's why I don't have a problem with seeing the others. It's just Ciara that grates on my nerves (I hate saying that about a kid).
