I'm glad Hope has the sense to stop Hattie from telling her the plan. Too bad Hattie doesn't have any.
LOL at how Hattie is perceptive enough to realize Hope doesn't call Rafe by his last name and Hope doesn't get the point.

I liked Hope and Hattie's name conversation. I agree with Hope not wanting to know the plan. Thanks for the Saturday chapter Kpatch.

Hooray for a Saturday chapter!
Hope really needs to stay as far away from this as possible...but i guess that isn’t going to happen...

I'm so glad Hattie brought up her calling Bo and Aiden by their last names. I had noticed that she doesn't do that with Rafe. I was hoping for a better answer than "I don't know".

Chapter 4
“You’d really rather be in prison than be a free woman?” Hattie asked.
“No, of course not. I don’t want to be in prison at all, but I’m a cop.”
“Used to be.”
“Point taken, but my real point is, I did the crime and I need to do the time. If my sentence is in the federal penitentiary, then so be it. Plus, I’m better off not knowing what you and Sheila are planning. That way, if I’m questioned, I can honestly say, I have no idea.”
Hattie shrugged and picked up a magazine. “Suit yourself.”
“Hattie, look, you've been in and out of prison for years thanks to those schemes of yours, and this sounds like another disaster waiting to happen.”
Pushing the magazine aside, she said, “That’s where you’re wrong. Those other schemes were half-assed. This scheme's a whole assed one.”
Hope raised her brows. “I don't doubt that.”
“Think about it Fancy Lady. You don’t wanna regret not getting in on this.”
“I’m sure I’ll have no regrets.” She looked at the letter again.
Hattie quickly snatched the letter away. “What’s this.”
“Give it back. Hattie, I’m warning you.”
“Is this a Dear John letter? Oh my word, it is!”
Hope grabbed it back. “It’s not, not the way you’re thinking.”
“Whatever.” Hattie got up from the table. “How do you get so many men to fall in love with you when you’re really no fun at all.” She walked away.
Hope sighed deeply. “I used to be fun.”

Nice montage. Glad Hope wants to have deniability.

I liked Hattie asking how Hope gets all of these men to fall in love with her when she's really no fun.

fluffysmom I was about to comment the same thing. I laughed so hard at that. Kpatch you really have Hattie's voice down.

Oh Hope—sister, I used to be fun too. Or at least occasionally amusing.

Chapter 5
Sitting up on her cot, she rested the yellow ruled pad on her stomach and reread what she wrote so far.
Dear Rafe,
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, and I know it will be one of the hardest things for you too, but I have to set you free. We both need to face the fact that I may never get out of prison. You know, prison’s not the worst place in the world. I’ve been held hostage many times, and in many ways, it’s not so different. As I sit here in the prisoner’s break room, I’m learning to like the color grey. It’s peaceful and I have learned to pretend I’m on the Fancy Face II looking out at the sea on an overcast day.
She set the pad aside and tearfully clutched a picture of Bo and the kids. The prison allowed inmates to keep very few personal possessions, and photos were among the few.
Running her thumb over Bo’s face, she whispered, “I’m sorry Brady. I tried. I tried to follow your plan for my life-after-Bo. I tried to love Rafe, to let him replace you in my heart, believe me I tried. Over and over and over. But I can’t do it anymore. He’s so controlling and cavemanish. Plus, kissing him … well, it makes me ill. It’s like kissing my younger brother who I can’t stand — that is, if I had a younger brother.
His cologne is disgusting. Maybe it’s not his cologne, maybe it’s him. He always smells like day-old tamales. And having sex with him? Oy. It was — well, never mind. I’m pretty sure you don’t really want the details. You know, Aiden was the only man who came close to replicating what you and I had together. I really loved him. If only he didn’t try to kill me. I mean, there’s a lot you can forgive, but that one’s tough. I really didn’t want to sleep with one eye open for the rest of my life.”
Sleepiness overtook her, and her eyes fluttered shut as her mind filled with memories of Bo.

I'm happy that Hope finally sees the light about Rafe.
I love the video tribute to Bo and Hope.

I'm glad Hope realized that what she and Aiden had (before he was ruined) was much more like it and that she is only with Rafe to appease Bo's dying wish.

Glad Hope finally admitted that she was only with Rafe because it’s what Bo wanted. And that she truly loved Aiden, before he tried to kill her.

All caught up!
I cracked up at "Brady Lady" and that whole conversation. You really do have Hattie's voice down! You also write Hope as smarter than she is on the actual show...
Nice touch about her reconciling the gray of the prison with a gray day out on the Fancy Face II. Great detail.
