Great chapter Kpatch. Poor Chloe. I can't believe she ran into Randy. I'm surprised he'd say those things to Philip. For all he knows Philip could be her relative. I can't wait to see what happens next. Thanks for the preview Kpatch.

THAI RESTAURANT
Randy loosened himself from Philip’s grip and pushed the restaurant door open. He hesitated before leaving, and looked Philip in the eye.
Randy: I feel sorry for you, buddy. You’re in for a hell of a shock.
Philip watched Randy walk away from the restaurant, then he turned around to return to his table, but ran right into Chloe.
Chloe: Can we leave? Can we just go? Please.
Philip: Sure, whatever you want. Let me pay the bill and I’ll be right back.
Chloe’s anxiety was growing and she couldn’t stand still. She walked out of the restaurant before Philip came back. Outside she took a deep breath and started to walk toward the water. Catching up with her, Philip grabbed her arm.
Philip: Are you okay?
Chloe: No, I’m not okay.
Philip: I’m sorry that happened. Look, that guy’s an asshole. He mistook you for someone else. Forget him.
Chloe: I’d like to.
Philip: Good. Come on, let’s walk home.
Philip and Chloe walked along Lakeshore Drive toward the condo. Something about the encounter with Randy gnawed at Philip. He wondered if Chloe was ready to tell him what happened to her. He stopped to look at the lake view.
Philip: Nice view, isn’t it?
Chloe: Uh huh. But this is the same view you see from your apartment.
Philip: Only 16 stories lower. Looking at the lake makes me homesick.
Chloe: Homesick?
Philip: Lake Michigan flows into the Salem River. Sometimes I ... want to flow right along with it.
Chloe: Are you seriously homesick for Salem?
Philip: Salem is home. A lot of people I care about live there.
Chloe: Oh, you mean Melanie.
Philip: Melanie, yes. And, up until recently, you too.
Chloe: You missed me?
Philip: Yea. I missed our friendship, our talks. I missed sharing stories about Parker. Any time he did something new or funny, I wanted to tell you about it. Sometimes I’d be out on the terrace with Parker, looking at the lake and I’d think to myself, “I wonder what Chloe is doing back in Salem right now.”
Chloe: Really?
Philip: Yeah. Chloe...
Chloe: Yes?
Philip: What were you doing?
Chloe: You don’t want to know.

Can't wait to see the answer Chloe gives to Philip Tomorrow. So happy that the chapters are everyday and that this was not a friday chapter and having to wait till Monday. I feel sorry for Chloe, Philip is pushing her hard to tell him what happened. He should be following Brady's advice. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch.

I enjoyed the chapter. I was glad to hear Philip say that he'd missed Chloe and their friendship. I hope he doesn't push her too hard for answers. I am thrilled to be getting weekend chapters. Thanks Kpatch!

Philip: I’d think to myself, “I wonder what Chloe is doing back in Salem right now.”
Chloe: Really?
Philip: Yeah. Chloe...
Chloe: Yes?
Philip: What were you doing?
Chloe: You don’t want to know.
Philip: Why would you say that?
Chloe: Because ... you never called me, so I figured you didn’t want to know.
Philip: Phone works both ways.
Chloe: I didn’t think you’d want to talk to me. You were so angry when you left.
Philip: More disappointed than angry. I never had any intention of keeping Parker from you.
Chloe: What?
Philip: You’re his mother. It’s important that ...
Philip’s cell phone rings.
Philip: Sorry, I have to take this.
Chloe’s mind wandered as Philip took his phone call. “He never had any intention of keeping Parker from me? Then why ... Oh god. He’s only saying that because ... I can’t even think.”
Philip: Chloe, I have to go see a client. It’s kind of an emergency. The condo is only a couple blocks away. Will you be okay by yourself? Chloe?
Chloe: Sure.
Philip: Great. I’ll see you at home later.
Chloe watched Philip get into a cab, then turned her attention to the lake. She thought about the time she jumped into the Salem River and tried to drown herself. She sadly wished she succeeded.
