THAI RESTAURANT

Philip: Have you spoken to your parents lately?
Chloe: Why?
Philip: No reason. Just making conversation.
Chloe: No, I don’t talk to them if I can help it.
Philip: I heard Parker call you Mama the other day on a video chat.
Chloe’s face lights up.
Chloe: That’s the best feeling in the world. The first time he called me Mama was on Skype.
Philip: I know. Lucinda told me.
Chloe: When was the first time he called you Papa?
Philip: About two months ago. And you’re right. It’s an incredible feeling.

A man walking past their table stops and looks at Chloe.
Man: Lola!
Philip looks at the man and then at Chloe, who looks stunned and nervous. The man leans on the table and his face is within an inch of Chloe’s face.
Man: Come on baby, don’t tell me you don’t remember me. The name is Randy, and I know you could never forget me.
Chloe: You ... um ... you must have me mixed up with someone else. My name isn’t Lola.
Randy: Well, whatever name you’re going by ... I know it’s you. A man never forgets a woman with big ...
Philip: Hey! Philip rises from his chair. Look buddy, the lady says you made a mistake.
Randy: Lady? This ain’t no lady, my friend. She’s a high class hooker. Right, Lola?
The blood rises in Philip’s face as he pulls his fist back in preparation to punch Randy’s lights out.
Chloe: Philip! No!
Randy moves out of the way to avoid getting hit.
Chloe: Philip, he’s not worth it.
Randy: Get a grip. Jeez. Sorry I interrupted. But I will say this. She’s gonna give you your money’s worth. In fact, whatever you’re paying her, she’s worth twice as much.
Philip grabbed Randy’s arm and pulled him roughly toward the restaurant’s front door. Other restaurant patrons turned their attention toward the scene, while Chloe felt like she was about to jump out of her skin. At the front door, Philip held Randy’s lapels.
Philip: Listen Randy, I’m gonna cut you a break because this is public place, but if I ever see you even looking at her again, you’re going to be one sorry mother f--er. Do we understand each other?
Randy: Yeah, sure.
Randy loosened himself from Philip’s grip and pushed the restaurant door open. He hesitated before leaving, and looked Philip in the eye.
Randy: I feel sorry for you, buddy. You’re in for a hell of a shock.

Poor Chloe, like the song goes. It is a small world after all. I can't beleive Chloe's luck to run into Randy. Was it not Randy that spoke with Chloe and said he understood and gave her extra mony to help her get Parker back?? I am anxous to see what Philip has to say now that he has met Randy. Thanks for the chapter Kpatch.

The encounter with Randy raises Philip's suspicions. He asks Chloe what she's been doing since he and Parker left Salem.
