I couldn't help but think that if this was the TV Days, Kate would be back in their lives tomorrow. . . and doing the same stuff. So glad the Kpatch Days is more logical. I also wonder if there is another meaning to peel away the layers... |

Philip: I’m sorry, Chloe. I’m truly and deeply sorry. Do you think you can ever forgive me?
Chloe nods.
Chloe: You’re a good guy, Philip. I mean, you put our son’s well-being above everything else. How could I possibly hold that against you?
Philip: Thank you. Now I want you to forgive someone else.
Chloe: Who?
Philip: Yourself.
Chloe: That’s a little harder to do.
Philip: Do you want to talk to someone?
Chloe: I am talking to someone. I’m talking to you.
Philip: I meant a professional.
Chloe: I don’t need a psychiatrist to judge me.
Philip: They’re not going to judge you, Chloe.
Chloe: Maybe not. But the thought of telling anyone else about it ...
Philip: That’s fine. Whatever you want. But if you change your mind ...
Chloe: I know ... I know that I’m partly responsible for what happened. I’m not blameless here. I really messed up.
Philip: Chloe, don’t.
Chloe: Why not? It’s true. ... Do you know what I think about? I wonder how I’m going to fill out a job application. What am I going to write down for “previous jobs”? What if Parker finds out what I did? How do I explain it to him? What about dating? ... Do you date?
Philip: Me? Dating isn’t my top priority these days.
Chloe: You’re a great catch, Philip. You shouldn’t be alone.
Philip: Who should I be with?
Chloe: Don’t look at me. I’m not good enough for you.
Philip: Don’t say that.
Chloe: Or for anyone. I mean, no man would even want to look at me after what I did.
Philip: That’s not true.
Chloe: Come on, Philip.
Philip: I’m serious.
Chloe: How do you know?
Philip: I just know. Trust me.
Chloe: That’s another thing.
Philip: What?
Chloe: Trust. Do you think we can ever trust each other again?
Philip: I don’t know.

Thanks for the chapter Kpatch. Philip is so right. Chloe needs to forgive herself. I am sad that this story is coming to an end. I am excited to see tomorrows chapter all at the same time.

Great chapter Kpatch. I really liked the honest conversation. I'm glad that Philip told her that she needs to forgive herself. I look forward to seeing how the story ends even though I don't want it to end.

I am loving all the talking between these two... It is showing how they have changed for the better for themselves, their son & for each other.. This is the best way to become best friends before lovers or husband & wife..

I'm glad they seem to be taking it slow.The trust between them really did take a hit on both sides,so I'm glad they're rebuilding.

THE CONDO
Chloe: That’s another thing.
Philip: What?
Chloe: Trust. Do you think we can ever trust each other again?
Philip: I don’t know. I hope so. I think we’ve made a good start by being honest with each other.
Chloe: I think so too. Who knew relationships were such hard work? Even friendships.
Philip: You and I have an added incentive for having a good relationship, namely Parker. I mean, before long we’re gonna want to take him to a Cubs game together, right? You can sing the national anthem.
Chloe smiles.
Chloe: So there’s hope for us.
Philip: Of course. We were already good friends.
Chloe: We were more than friends. We were best friends.
Philip: Um, don’t go anywhere.
Chloe: What are you doing?
Philip: I’ll be right back.
Philip leaves the room and returns a few minutes later. He’s holding something, but Chloe can’t see what it is. She gets up off the sofa.
Philip: The Marines have a motto.
Chloe: Um, that seems out of left field, but okay.
Philip smiles.
Philip: Semper fi. Semper fidelis. Do you know what that means?
Chloe: Always faithful.
Philip: That’s right. Loosely translated, it means “always trust.”
Philip takes Chloe’s hand and places one of his dog tags in her palm. She looks at him questioningly.
Philip: Here, I’m giving you one of my dog tags, and I’m keeping the other.
Chloe: I don’t understand.
Philip: This is our touchstone. A symbol of trust. ... I, Philip, promise you, Chloe, that I will do everything in my power to prove that you can trust me again.
Chloe smiles broadly and takes Philip’s hand.
Chloe: I, Chloe, promise you, Philip, that I will do everything in my power to prove that you can trust me again.
They each hold up their dog tag and touch them together.
Philip: Here’s to new beginnings.
Chloe: To new beginnings.
