Great chapter Blueyed. I hope the ruse works to stop the murders for awhile. I really like the mystery aspect of this story.

Jack was shuffling the papers on his desk. " Janice ! " He waited a minute and was just about to shout again when she came in with a cup of coffee. " Ja...Oh ..there you are. Where are the new assignments for the interns? " Janice placed his cup down, " On your desk. " Jack gave a her a look, " Really ? They are not here. I have looked through everything and they are not..." Janice moved two pieces of paper and handed him that which he sought. " Ahh yes..thank you. Will you send them in ..please. " Janice left the office and a few minutes later the interns peeked their heads in. " Enter " Jack looked up and handed them a sheet of paper each. " Your assignments..articles on my desk by 10:00 am. " Then looking up , " Problem Jerry .." The young man sighed. " It's Gary..sir." Jack frowned.." Are you sure? Let me see your ID badge..never mind. you two are interns I don't need to remember your names. No go..shoo..shoo.." They ran out quickly, yes he did love tormenting the interns. Now he would set up a story for his evening at Jennifer's.
Jack walked around the newsroom talking on his cell phone. " No..if you are sick just let Abby take care of him and go to bed. I will come over as planned and stay until Abby can come home for the evening. No.. it is not a problem for me..you will be in bed in your room all night anyway. " Jennifer listened to Jack as he acted annoyed with her. " I am looking forward to "quality time " with you Jack. Too bad you can't stay the night. I miss you so much. " Jack responded to her words. "Yes..well tell him I look forward to our time this evening as well. Talk to you later.." Jennifer smiled , " I love you Jack Deveraux." Jack cleared his throat. " Yes..I believe you know what my response to that is." Jennifer sighed , " I know..you love me too. "
After playing with JJ and reading him a story , Jack put his son to bed. Jack went to the bedroom and found Jennifer there waiting. She patted the bed , " Come here ..Jack. " He smiled. The laid on the bed Jack holder her close. " I have missed this so much.." she whispered. Jack kissed her on the top of her head, " As have I. It won't be for too much longer...I hope. " Jennifer looked up into his eyes, " Let's make the most of tonight. " She unbuttoned his shirt and removed it. " Much better." she said. She trailed kisses up his neck to his mouth and they kissed softly , then deeper. " Jennifer.." he took her robe off and then her nightgown, " Much better. " His hands roamed her and then she removed his pants. He came over top of her staring into her eyes. " I do love you." Then he made love to her.
After several attempts to leave Jack finally made his way back to the hotel. As he entered his room a feeling of unease came over him. He looked around and at first glance everything seemed in order , but on a second look he started to notice things. The bed had creases on it as though someone had laid on it . Then he could smell his cologne in the air and found one of his shirts on the floor doused with it , the bottle now missing. He checked his closet and his blue dress shirt was missing too. Then he saw his desk was neat and his garbage pail emptied and a small coffee maker was set up with single cup packets waiting to be brewed. " Ok...I am officially worried. " Jack took out his cell and dialed , " It's Jack..you guys better get over to my hotel room...it would seem I have had a visitor while I was out. "

chapter 94
" Wow..This woman is really nuts. " Bo said as he bagged Jack's cologne soaked shirt. " Obsessive is what i was thinking, " Ben said. " I mean ..she laid on his bed . probably wore his shirt with the cologne..hell she took his bottle. She could have just went out and bought a bottle but she took yours..breaking in here...she is going to make her self known to you Jack..soon." Bo got a call.. " What?..yeah we are on the way. Jack we gotta get over tho Jen's someone broke in there. " Jack went pale, " Jennifer is ..is she alright? "
It was just like his dream. Police cars and police all over. Jack's heart began racing..this can't be happening he thought. Not now not after everything. "Please god..please don't take my family from me, " Then he saw her talking to a detective. He ran for her, " Jennifer ! Thank god ..are you alright? " She held on to him tightly , " Oh Jack..they tried to take JJ. That monster tried to take our son. " Jack's heart almost pounded out of his chest , " Where is he? Where is my boy ? " Then Hope came out of the kitchen with JJ . He saw if father and ran to him and Jack scooped him up , wrapping his arms around the little boy. " Daddy ! Daddy..I was very brave ! I did what you told me to do when I stranger comes near you. Then I bit the person. I know biting is bad but.. " Jack started shaking his head, " No..no Jack..you did everything right . I am so proud of you little man. I love you so much ! " The three of them held on to each other for a long time, thankful to be together.
" Now what ? They should leave town right? Ben tell her.." Jennifer looked shocked. "If you think I am going anywhere without you Jack Deveraux...well you had just better think again. " Jack knew this was a battle he could not win. Ben made a suggestion. " We will just have to put then in protective custody. " Jack nodded , " Perfect..that settles that. " Jennifer looked from Ben to Jack , " Wait..what about Jack ? He comes into protective custody too right?..Ben...right? " Jack and Ben exchanged glances , " Well Jennifer..we could do that but.." Ben was cut off by Jack , " Oh don't bother. We need to smoke out the killer, Bo and Ben think that it's just a matter of time before they reveal themselves to me." Jack took a step back..she had that look. The look that said he was probably going to get.." Ow ! " he said when she hit him in the arm. " Forget it Jack..you are not going to make yourself the bait ..do you hear me ? " Jack was rubbing his arm , " I am sure the neighbors heard you. Jennifer this the only way..this person has to be stopped. We could have lost our son tonight. Thankfully we didn't ,Abby is safe but I need to make sure that you and Jack will be too. What if.. " Jennifer raised her hands up, " I know..but what if something happens to you? I can't go go there again Jack.. I can't lose you..do you understand me jack..I can't lose you again. " He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head. " Shhh..it's going to be alright..you won't lose me.."
Jack got Jennifer settled at the safe house . Ben assured him that the two FBI agents assigned to Jennifer and JJ were good. " They will be well protected Jack..I promise. " Jack went into the bedroom to say goodnight to them. He kissed his son on the head and brushed his hair off his forehead. Then he stood up and she came into his arms. " I love you Jack..I just want this to be over so we can be together..all the time. " Jack sighed, " Me too. Just try not worry... ok ? I will call you in the morning. I love you too. " Then he took her face in his hands and kissed her.
Ben had moved Jack to a new hotel he walked around the room rubbing the back of his neck. He just wanted all this to be over , he ...he..he forgot what he was thinking. Jack was very tired. He suddenly felt as though he could not keep his eyes open. He thought if he just laid down and rested for a while...
The door opened , slowly , the figure stopped at the foot of the bed watching Jack . The figure moved to the side of the bed and brushed a stray piece of hair from his forehead , he was so handsome, was the lone thought she had. The gas had done the trick..he had not even realized he was being knocked out. She had to get him out. She brought in all the items she would need to remove Jack unnoticed from the hotel. Again she stood and stared. She would finally have him..he would be out for hours, there was time. She had to take the opportunity..he was going to be hesitant with her at first she knew . He looked so peaceful..sweet..handsome..it wouldn't matter... just a few minutes. She laid down on the bed , pulling his arm over her like a blanket. She rested her head on his chest and breathed in his scent. His chest moved up and down slowly. Good thing the gas dissipated quickly she thought or she would be passed out too. After ten minutes she had to break herself from him. It was time..time to claim what she wanted .... Jack Deveraux

chapter 95
Jack did not show up for work in the morning , nor did he check in with Ben or Jennifer the night before. Jennifer was frantic when she called first Bo then Ben both promising to find him.The agents assigned to Jack had broken into his hotel room and found that the bed had been laid on and that's it. Forensics was there going over the room. Ben got down to the paper and Bo met him there. They interviewed everyone down to the janitors. Not one person had seen or heard from Jack. Janice was in his office going through the mail. " You don't seem bothered that your boss is missing. " Bo stated. " I am doing my job. I am making sure everything is as Mr Deveraux likes it. His mail on the left , copy of the paper on the right..day's scheduled meetings in the center. I have coffee on..Oh would either of you like a cup? " They declined. " You like to make Mr Deveraux happy Janice. " She stared at him. " It's my job to take care of whatever he needs. It's not my life calling..just my job. " Ben saw the bandage on her hand. " What happened to your hand? " Janice looked down at her hand. " Oh..I burned it on a pot last night." Ben and Bo looked at one another.
Jack came to and was in a large bedroom with a living room area and a bathroom without a door. He found his own clothes in the drawers and closet and his toilet. A tray of food and a thermal carafe of coffee sat on the coffee table. How did he get here? Where was here anyway? The last thing he remembered was laying down in his hotel room. He pulled on the door..locked ..from the outside. He went to the window , moving the curtains he saw that it was fake. No window to look out or glass to brake. " Damn" he mumbled. He noticed small photos on the the TV stand. He sighed..the pictures were of Abigail and JJ. He looked down at the coffee table and found his newspapers folded as he liked on the right side of the food tray . On the left side was a plain white envelope. Jack found a computer written note.
" Jack,
Please enjoy your lunch it is a Pastrami on rye, your favorite. I have left you a full pot of coffee as well. I know you must be upset but I know what's best for you. I will take good care of you ..I promise. Try and relax..watch CNN. I will be home for dinner. I promise to explain things to you as I know you must be going crazy. Try to stay calm.

" Oh..yeah..this is not good." Jack watched TV then paced. Then he read the paper then paced again. Jennifer must be worried sick, he thought. In hind sight he probably should have went into protective custody as well. He sat on the couch waiting. It's seemed like hours when he heard a noise. It was some sort of knocking, like over a loud speaker. Perhaps a microphone. " Well hello sweetheart. How was your day ? " It was a computer generated voice. Jack stood up and looked around the room. "Are you not going to show your face? " The computer voice was..a soft , almost sexy voice , " Not at this time. You see I am going to wait until you are starved for human contact..thus making you more receptive to my presence. " Jack started looking around the room for the speakers. " Will you at least tell me what this is about ? What do you want from me? " The pause between responses told Jack that whoever was holding him was typing in their answers. " I am someone who loves you Jack..unconditionally. I know what you need and how to take care of you , and I will...you will see. I see you haven't touched your lunch. I promise you..it's not drugged. Perhaps you will eat your dinner. I have strawberry ice cream for dessert." She could see him ! He was under surveillance. " So you are watching me like I am some sort of lab rat." Jack was pacing and rubbing his neck. Jack knew he had to get information..he had to stall he knew Ben and Bo had to be looking for him..he hoped. " Why did you try to kidnap my son? " Long pause..." She doesn't deserve to have your children. Jack Jr is just like you..I wanted to have him here with us. but It is best he stay with his mother....for now. She hurt you so much , I wanted her dead . But small children need their mothers...I know you know that , don't you Jack? We couldn't have your son go through the pain of losing his mother..like you did. I was so angry..Then I would see these women who reminded me of her. She pretends to be so kind and perfect but she is not. So i killed them. " Jack's fears were validated , she would have killed Jennifer. The voice went on. " But I really wanted to kill the other one more. Sara Jamison.. She left you..how could she do that? You loved her , and she kept your son from you ..now you could never even know him. I went there you know..to New York to kill her. Went to her apartment first, looked at her things and her pictures. I waited a long time for her but she never came home." Jack felt like his knees were giving out and sank down onto the couch. "So I went down to the paper. The people there told me she was in China on assignment.Don't look so shocked..I haven't given up on that yet. She has to pay for hurting you . Your shrew of an ex-wife will too..in time. When Jack Jr is older." Jack was breathing heavy , " This is how you show your affection for me? By killing trying to kill the people I love ? What about Lara?" Another long pause.." She was a slut. Coming on to you..so she could use you to further her career. " Jack looked up , realizing she gave him a clue. " So you've seen her come on to me? " He waited for the response to come. " Of course I...Your are so smart Jack , but I am afraid this is the end of your fishing trip for this evening." Jack waited a few moments , then calling out, but there was no response . Dinner came after a note was slid under the door and a small door in the wall contained his food. He did not eat ..again. So Jennifer was safe ..somewhat for now. Sara..oh god..what if she had been home? He couldn't think of it ..it made him ill. So tired..why was he so tired? Drugged ! But how..he had nothing to eat or drink except water from the bathroom faucet.That was the last thought he had before he passed out on the couch. After a few minutes the slender frame came in to the room and stood gazing at him. She laid him back on the couch and loosened his tie. She sat on the floor beside him caressing his face and holding his hand. She would take care of him..not like the other women in his life had. They had all let him down and hurt him ..but she would not. "Sleep well , sweet prince, and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest . "

Poor Jack. I think he's thinking the same thing I am about his captor. I love the mysteries in this story.
