Aww that's such a sweet date.I loved Jennifer's not so good memory and that she feels bad about it.It's nice to see them start at the beginning with a courtship they never really had.

chapter 81
Jack and Jennifer just sat through yet another viewing of "Star Wars" with JJ . " I LOVE that movie. " the little boy crooned. " We know," his parents said in unison. " Time for bed little man. " Jack announced. " Jack would you like a cup of coffee. " " No thanks I have to go to bed now, " JJ said laughed out loud at his own joke. Jack couldn't help but laugh too. Then picking his son up and holding him upside down said, " Oh you think your funny now huh? " He tickled him all the way upstairs and tucked him in. JJ threw his arms around his father hugging him , " Goodnight Daddy , I love you. " Jack hugged his son back and kissed him on the top of his head. " Goodnight , I love you too. "
When Jack came downstairs Jennifer had set up coffee and cookies in the living room. "Thanks ," Jack drank his coffee and nibbled on a cookie , " Want to watch CNN? " Jack almost choked , " You hate CNN...how about the local news instead? " Jennifer smiled brightly , she loved it when he compromised. " Ok," They sat back on the couch and Jennifer snuggled against him resting her head on his shoulder. Jack smiled to himself and was relaxed enough to place his arm around her shoulder so now her head rested on his chest. She could hear his heart beating faster then normal and she sighed at the sound of it. Jack nuzzled her head with his nose and kissed the top of her head. She lifted her head and looked into his eyes and gave him that shy smile that made his pulse race. He lowered his head to hers and she craned her neck up to meet him. His lips brushed hers , then he cupped her cheek in his hand and rubbed it with his thumb. He came down again , putting his lips to hers , with more pressure. Jennifer twisted herself around until she was across him , almost sitting in his lap. The feel of his arms around her made her heart skip a beat , her hand around his neck, fingers in his hair . She silently laughed to herself thinking they were acting like a couple of teenagers making out on the couch. The news was on in the background " A third woman was found murdered in her home this evening....police are on the scene now..." Jack and Jennifer both froze. The faces parted and Jennifer said " Another murder? " Both watched the report , then looking at each other , Jack said " I think we should go visit Bo in the morning. I am sure we can get some more of the details from him. Three woman...that's in the realm of being considered a serial killer. I wonder if the FBI will be getting involved ? " Jeniffer frowned , " I can't see the Salem PD giving up the investigation to them. " Jack thought about it for a moment , " Maybe not so much giving it up as asking for help. This is what they do. At the very least they could get a profiler here to give them a base of who they are looking for. " Jennifer nodded then got an idea , " You know, I think we should do a search and see if there any other cases that fit these. " Jack leaned down and kissed the tip of her nose , " Good thinking Miss Horton."
As the drove downtown to Police headquarters, Jennifer told Jack that she found several cases that might fit these murders but without more specifics she couldn't know for sure.
Bo saw them coming and cringed a bit. " What are you two doing here? " Jack stuck his hand out and shook Bo's hand , " Hey Bo , we were in the neighborhood and we just thought.." Bo laughed at him , " yea right..what do you really want Jack? " Jennifer stepped forward , " Some details on these murders .." Bo exhaled , " Off the record ? " Jack raised an eyebrow , " To start " They went into Bo's office , " We are waiting on an FBI agent and profiler to get her here. Looks like we got ourselves a serial killer. There was a fourth murder that we didn't connect at first . " Jack frowned , " Can you give us any details on these murders , you know , what is it about them that connects them all ? " Bo shook his head , but before he could answer a deep voice from behind them answered Jack , " We are not releasing any details at this time. " All three turned to see the owner of the voice. Jack blew out a breath , " Agent Todd ," Ben stepped into the room and closed the door behind him , " Jack."

I love the sweetness,the natural instinct to move toward eachother,the sweet family moment,AND the reintroduction to Agent Todd.

" Agent Todd. " Ben closed the door behind him , " Jack.", then turning to the others , " Bo Jennifer." They greeted Ben and made small talk for a few minutes then Jennifer's cell rang and she said , " It's the paper, excuse me " After she left the room Jack approached them , " Ok..just tell me..they are all blonds right? Do I need to worry about Jennifer and Abigail? "Ben sighed , " Off the record..It's a bit early for that. I haven't looked at the crime scene photos thoroughly yet, if i find a pattern I will let you know. " Bo moved to the door to go speak to uniformed officer. " How is she? " Jack asked. Ben looked at the floor then up to meet Jack's gaze , " She is good, on her way to China as we speak. " Jack nodded..he had to know , " Are the two of you..." Ben smiled , not being able to hide the amusement of Jack being uncomfortable . But he wouldn't lie to him either. " We are getting there. " Jack swallowed hard and choked out the words, " I would like to thank you for what you did, getting my money back. " Ben stopped Jack, " No need , it was purely selfish, So you and Jennifer?" Jack knew Ben was trying to tell if jack was still a threat, " We are getting there." was all he would say.
Ben went through the photos and physical evidence, telling Bo , " There is a pattern here I know it , I just can't see it yet. " Bo looked over the photos , " i know what you mean. Each woman was staged but in such everyday activities sitting at the computer, doing dishes , watching TV, talking on the phone. Hell we just found this Jane Doe by accident , She is the first victim. " Ben could not take his eyes off the photos , I know it's there and we better find it...soon"
" I think we should give Ben a few days to look at the evidence , then go back down there and see what we can get out of him and Bo. " Jack nodded while chewing , " Yes , I agree. Agent Todd needs a few days to process everything. " Jack did not say it out loud but seeing Ben had been a bit upsetting.He had talked to Dean and was told that Sara was fine, while he was happy with the way things were going with Jennifer , finally on a good path both personally and professionally, he did still miss Sara. After they had dessert Jack asked Jennifer to dance. They held onto each other and swayed to the music, then she tilted her head upward , her signal to him she wished to kiss . He gave a small smile and leaned down, kissing her softly . Then pulling back he caressed her face, " This is nice , " he whispered. Jennifer gave him the heart stopping shy smile , " Yes , it is, very nice. "
The pretty blond woman laid on her bed ,it was still early morning. On the bed with her were clothes laid out as if she was preparing for work. Her make-up on the vanity in the bathroom along with a curling iron and brush. the shower still damp. The newspaper and a steaming cup of coffee waiting there for her on the night stand. But the coffee and paper would go untouched this morning, because there was a growing red stain on the woman's chest , she had been stabbed to death.

Uh oh...it would seem there might be a pattern.Pretty blond?Jenn and Abby may very well have something to worry about.I wonder if Sara will come back into the fold....

chapter 83
Lara sat on the edge of Jack's desk as he told her about the changes he made in article. " I moved paragraph nine up to seven and seven down to nine, I didn't do too much to the actual wording ..just a few minor changes. " Janice came in " Here is the mail , also your copy of the The Times is here..Miss Jamison has an article in there today , I dog eared the page for you. " Jack smiled , " Thanks Janice . " Lara looked down at the paper, " Sara Jamison? , " she asked . Jack nodded. " She is very talented..I am a big fan of her work. " Jack smiled , " As am I. "
Ben and Bo went over the new crime scene photos. " Another blond , getting ready for work. What am I missing here, I know there is something here besides the hair color." Bo looked at Ben , " Yea but the first was a brunette , why? And what does the profiler think about the way the bodies and scenes are staged? " Ben blew out a slow breath , " He is still working on it. The only patterns are that they are everyday activities and the hair color of the victims except that first one.."
"Jack? " Jennifer came into his office, " i have the two new interns here you want to meet them. " Oh yea sure. " he said putting his pen down. Jack was only half listening as Jennifer introduced him to a young man and a young woman. He shook their hands gave them a summary of what was expected and told them where they were to be assigned. After they had gone Jennifer looked at him , " You didn't even hear their names did you? " she said with a smile dancing on her face. " Jack looked at her with shock on his face. " Of course I.....no not a clue." Jennifer shook her head and laughed , " Oh Jack. " was all she would say. Jack looked at her and shrugged. I was wondering if you might want to take Jack out to the movies tonight. " Her eyes opened wide, " Oh yes ..please, no more Star Wars. " Jack nodded , " Agreed. Shall we have lunch in here today or would you prefer to go out? " Jennifer thought about it for a minute , " Let's eat in. I tell you what I will be back in an hour..with lunch. "
Jennifer was back in an hour as promised with sandwiches and coffee. They talked about their plans for the evening and what movie they would take their son to. Then Jennifer handed Jack a slice of chocolate cake. " Ooh..thanks. " He started swiping the icing off and Jennifer took a finger of it for herself . Then she took another and held it out to Jack. He took her wrist and brought her finger to his mouth and put it into her mouth taking the frosting with it. " Mmm" he said smiling. She leaned into him with a smile and he leaned in to her and they kissed. They left together for the evening smiling and talking..everyones eyes on them as the elevator doors closed.
The night was quiet and the street lamps had just come on. The garbage pails lined the streets . The pretty brunette was slumped over her garbage pail, blood running from her chest , another victim.

I really enjoyed the chapter. I like it that Jack and Jennifer are enjoying each other's company but seem to be taking things slowly. I can't wait to find out more about the mystery.
