Thank you.No sooner did Digest hear that James Scott (EJ) would be written out of Salem after he was unable to come to terms on a new deal with the show came word that negotiations had begun again. Now, it's all set and the actor has agreed to a new, one-year deal to stay in Salem until April 2013. Prior to the announcement of the new contract, Executive Producer Ken Corday insisted to Digest that Scott was staying put. "I have never heard anything more absurd in my life," he declared. "Categorically no. Farthest thing from the truth. Why on earth would I want to let go one of the stars of the show? He is carrying the show and I am reading the show into the middle of February. It's foolishness." Scott had also released the following statement through the publicity office: "It has always been my wish to continue working with 'Days of our Lives,' and in light of recent reassurances given, I am optimistic of my future here at Days!" As much as I love the guy, I'd hardly say he was carrying the show. But I am glad he's staying.

I wonder if he was referring to the time period where everything seemed to have something to do with EJ. He was on almost everyday.

I have to admit,the writers are doing that right.EJ didn't need to be on everyday to pack a punch.Now we only have him two or three times a week,and that's enough.He really doesn't need to "carry the show",there are 40 or so other actors who deserve just as much,if not more airtime.

They do seem to be doing better about sharing screen time with other actors. But there's still too much Abe/Lexie (Abexie? Labe?) and Jarlena. I wish they would make a small adjustment and go back to the golden Days (ha!) of MWF and TTh storylines. MWF storylines: Jack/Jenn/Dan, Bope/Alice, Bradison/Kate TTh: Jarlena, EJ/Nicole, Victor/Maggie Monday only: Abe/Lexie, Caustin Who did I forget? What adjustments would you make? |

Hmm....what changes would I make?I'd ship Daniel off to Siberia,one way ticket of course.
Get rid of Abe and Dr.Kavorkian.Put in more Chad and Abby.Jennifer would eat crow,Jack would find another love interest while he works through anger at Jennifer for yet again not believing in him and while they find their way back to eachother SLOWLY.I'd bring back JJ to round out the Deveraux family.Ship off John and Marlena,and if I couldn't do that,I'd at least give them LESS airtime.Caustin just needs to go,they're boring.As for EJ....I'd choose a path for him and stick to it.He can be evil without being sadistic.But the writers for a while didn't seem to know where they wanted to go with him.If redeeming him is the plan,then I'd do what they did with Jack,do it slowly over a period of a year or two.He's been written so darkly that no one at this point would believe he doesn't have a motive or an angle for what he does.Hmm....I'd have to think more about it....

I can just see GG having a head-slap moment. LOL.
I think that Corday managed to insult every other actor by saying James is carrying the show. And how do we know it's an absurd thought for James Scott to be heading off the show? Are we living in Corday's head? How about all those other actors that were favorites and are no longer on the show. To their fans, it seemed unthinkable for them to be fired or allowed to leave. He is still out of touch.
