DWTS Week 2 (Read 256 times)

In case you were looking for a review, I'm sooooo sorry, but I haven't been able to get to it this week. But I did find these videos and I'll post my score for each and a very short review. These are in order of my top to lowest from week 1.

Chynna and Tony (My Score - 5) - She was cute, but not a good jive.


David and Kym - dance at 1:38 (showmanship = 9, technique = 4, so I'll give it a final score of 6 ) - Great energy. Very bad dancing.


JR and Karina - dance at 1:42 (7) - Not really a Jive. More of a jitterbug, but that's Karina's fault, not JR's. Great Jive flicks/kicks though.


Ricki and Derek - dance at 1:33 (6) - Not the most graceful I've ever seen. I didn't care for it. Especially the part where she pulls him up by his ...um.... belt. Yeah, his belt.


Chaz and Lacey - dance at 1:37 (4) - Bad frame. Bad movement. Not a very quick Quickstep.


Hope and Maks - dance at 1:36 (7) - At least it was actualy a Jive. But, oh honey, you gotta point your toes!!!


Kristen and Mark - dance at 1:45 (7) - Decent for what she was given. But I still don't like Mark.


Carson and Anna - dance at 1:44 (5) - Bless his heart. He sure has a lot of energy. Too bad that doesn't make him a better dancer.


Rob and Cheryl - (5) - Better than last week. But just like everyone else in his family, the kid has no talent.


Nancy and Tristan - dance at 2:38, nip slip at 3:58 - (6) - Also better than last week. But still a horrible frame and little discernable talent.


Elisabetta and Val
couldn't find a video - but it couldn't have been THAT good. Bless her heart.

Was it just me, but none of the jive's seemed like a jive to me. They all kind of fell flat for me.

Yeah, I noticed that while I was watching. Nobody was doing it EXACTLY right, but it IS only week two. The pros should have known better. Maybe this crop of stars really stinks, though. The quicksteps weren't all that quick or steppy either.

The only person that really grabbed me last night was J.R, and his partner is a putz. Poor guy.

And you didn't miss anything with Elisabetta. She was a little better but still terribly awkward.

I'm not really a prude, but when Ricki pulled Derek up by his waistband, my eyes bugged out. And then I look over at Annabelle who's dancing along with the music and she's getting to the point where she semi-watches the dancing and tries to emulate some of the moves....yeah, it was time for her to head off to bed after that dance.

I liked JR's dance, it was the best of the jives even though it wasn't a jive. Sometimes I think the pros get too caught up in the genre of their music for the week (like with Derek and Ricki dancing to Outkast, so it was more hip-hop than jive) and they let it affect their choreography. And I don't want to see David Arquette do slapstick funny, even though it's probably more natural to him than anything else. I want more for him, especially after all that he has gone through personally and publicly.

I doubt ANYONE would call me a prude either, but even I thought that move with Derek and Ricki was inappropriate. It really just wasn't necessary.
