Sounds like Philip's wait (and ours) for the reason of this visit will soon be learned.
I agree that all of this is stuff that Victor would be able to get his hands on in Salem. This is just something that Victor is doing to have the upper hand and to throw Philip off his game. Personal visitor not, Maggie is in town and she is going to want to see Parker. And what Maggie wants, Maggie gets...regardless of Victor's temperament. LOL.

Chapter 5a
“These results are abysmal, Philip. We’re going to have to take drastic action to tighten this operation before it collapses under its own weight.”
Philip leaned back in his chair. He was sitting next to his father at the conference table. “What are you talking about? Titan Media has never been healthier.”
“Is this what you call healthy, because to me, it looks like we’re a heartbeat away from life support.” He pointed at his laptop screen. “Sales are down, employee-to-sales ratio is up, operating expenses are up, profits are down. Everything that should be up is down. Everything that should be down is up.”
Philip got up to stand behind his father’s chair so he could get a better look at the spreadsheet Victor was viewing. “That’s bull,” he said forcefully. “You’re spinning those numbers to make them look bad. That’s not reality.”
“It’s the world as I see it.”
Philip sat back down in his seat. “Like I said, it’s not reality. Titan stock is soaring, and that’s largely due to the media division. We’re doing phenomenal here and you know it, Dad. The internal auditors were here at the end of the last quarter and they actually shook my hand. They said they’d never seen a more balanced balance sheet in their careers. So what’s the real story Dad? Why are you looking for problems where none exist?”
Turning back to the spreadsheet, he spat, “What are all these ‘production’ expenses in March? What were you producing anyway?”
Philip’s eyes widened. “You know very well what this is — the first of our new web series. The board approved the expenses in January,” he snapped. “You were at the board meeting when I pitched the series. Everyone including you thought it was an innovative way to compete with Amazon and Netflix.” He immediately regretted his harsh tone. It was possible his father’s memory wasn’t as sharp as it once was.
Ignoring Philip's statement, Victor waved at the air. “I’d say that you’re the one whose not seeing the world correctly.”
Philip’s brow knit. “Me?”

I'm glad Philip is standing up to him But why is Victor really there? Seems weird

Either something funky is going on here or Victor is pushing/testing Philip to see if he's ready to take on something else. I just wish he didn't feel the need to be so nasty to Philip.

This is pretty bizarre. It feels like Victor wants to push Philip to stand up to him.

Not really sure what Victor's issue is here. Glad Philip is standing up to him, though.

Hmmm......is Victor possibly suffering from some form of dementia, the beginnings of Alzheimers, or some other health issue? Very odd for Philip to think that Victor's memory may not be as sharp as it once was.
Something is definitely going on.

Chapter 5b
“I’d say that you’re the one whose not seeing the world correctly,” Victor said.
Philip’s brow knit. “Me? I beg to differ. Forbes Magazine … you did see the piece about us in Forbes’ December issue, right?” He walked over to a framed magazine cover that was hanging on the wall. Pointing to it, he said, “If you missed it because it gnaws at you to hear anything positive about me, I’ll get you a copy. They called Titan Media one of the fastest growing multimedia companies in the country. They even said ‘look out iTunes, Netflix, and Amazon.’ And that’s a direct quote!”
“That article must have been written before you proposed to that …” Philip shot Victor a warning look. “…to Chloe.”
Squinting, Philip said, “What has that got to do with anything?”
“The numbers have been steadily declining since you proposed to that woman.”
“Excuse me? What? What the hell kind of data point is that?”
Victor swiveled his chair so he was facing Philip. He folded his arms across his chest. “One that shows you’ve taken your eye off the ball and let your emotions lead you astray. Like always! She’s your downfall, Philip. What is it the kids say these days? She’s your kryptonite.” He turned back to the table and pointed at the screen. “How else do you explain this downward trend right here?”
Philip reclaimed his chair and leaned over to eye the spreadsheet. “Aah. That’s not a trend line. There’s always a fall-off in sales in January after the holidays, and not just for us. It’s industrywide. Look at the year-over-year figures. See? Numbers always fall off at this same time every year. You’ve been around long enough to know that. Even still, the year-over-year sales were better than the same period in 2016 and 2015.” Philip slapped the table with his palm. “Declining numbers, my ass!” He got up from the table and paced around it until he was standing on the other side. He leaned his hands on the table. “Okay Dad, out with it. I know it gives you immeasurable pleasure to cut me down, but something tells me there’s more to all this than you’ve revealed so far. What the hell did you come here for besides to harass me, or was that the entire reason for this visit?”

It seems Victor came there to convince Philip that being with Chloe is bad for the company, or perhaps to tell him to choose between her and his job. Of course, if there's any truth to these declining numbers, it probably had something to do with Parker being kidnapped or Philip and Chloe fighting over whose fault that was.

Sounds like Victor may be giving Philip an ultimatum, either Titan or Chloe. I suspect Philip may be looking for a new job in the near future.

For the love of all things good and holy--is he seriously still on this? Lots of people would choose a different partner for their children AND THEY GET FREAKING OVER IT. Victor has to let this go or lose Philip and Parker. And if that means Maggie doesn't get to see Parker....Victor is in trouble!
Will we get preview this weekend, boss?

Again I'm glad Philip isn't just taking it and he's standing up for himself I'm curious as to what victors answer will be to his true motives Hopefully not to give him an ultimatum

I was wondering how soon it would come around to Victor badmouthing Chloe.

Let the showdown begin. Victor blaming Chloe is nothing new, but he's usually more ruthless with what he says about her. This seemed tame for him so I agree that there is more going on.
