I was thinking about Jay's guest role on M&J and while it's always a treat to see him, that role was beneath him. He's a star, a leading man. He deserves so much better than a 2-minute guest shot on a cable sitcom.
I know it's a hard business and you need to be seen in order to be hired, but he has a decade's worth of audition tapes that truly showcase his talents and what a multifaceted actor he is. I want to see him again soon, but I want to see him in a role that is worthy of him ... a starring role. Or as Philip again on Days.

I agree. He is worthy of big screen leading man status. For sure. I always wondered why he stuck around on dool for so long when he should be aiming for more. Not that I minded him on dool everyday lol

Unfortunately the sad fact of the matter is that very few soap stars crossover. Even as talented as they are, they are always overlooked.

It's even more difficult now to get a prime time show with all of the reality shows taking up air time.

That's true. The unscripted shows have strangled out scripted dramas. I'm sure it's disheartening to him that he hasn't landed anything yet, that is, if he's looking. There aren't a ton of parts for actors and I still say that soaps are the most steady gig any actor could hope for.
I hope Jay is set money-wise. I worry about him. If he's strapped for cash, Mikey gave me a million virtual dollars to offer Jay.

I'm worried about Jay too.I'm hoping he'll find something too.We don't know his financial situation,but being out of work this long in Hollywood and with the state of the economy,it can't be good.

He did this guest stint and he also did that hallmark movie with Martha Madison, correct?
I just checked out his IMDB page however, the Melissa and Joey show and the hallmark movie are neither listed on his acting resume there. Which I think is strange. They are usually kept up to date. I hope there is more in store for him!

Maybe once All My Children and One life to live go on the Internet Jay could get a job there maybe the schedule will be less demanding and he can pursue other project. I actually think he would be great in the role of JR Chandler and the actor that plays the part got a job on B&B so the role is opened to be cast. |
