Chapter 4a


Tears rolled down Chloe’s face as she stood in the middle of the living room and helplessly watched Philip step out onto the terrace, crying into the night. She wanted to comfort him and tell him this wasn’t his fault. She wanted him to comfort her and tell her Parker would be home very soon. They needed each other more than they ever had before. “Philip, don’t.” She started heading for the terrace when the doorbell rang.

Her breath caught. “Oh my god.” She rushed to open the door. “Parker!”

On the other side of the door were two men, one wearing a Chicago Police Department uniform and the other man in a suit and tie, holding an ID badge. “Ma’am, I’m officer Rivera,” the uniformed cop said. “We spoke earlier at the Titan office. This here is Detective Marsh. May we come in?”

Chloe nodded as the men walked in.

“How’s your husband doing?” Rivera asked.

Philip entered the living room through the terrace door. He immediately snapped into business mode despite how bloodshot his eyes were. “I’m fine. Any word on Parker?”

“Mr. Kiriakis,” Marsh nodded. “We received the building’s security video and there’s some footage I’d like you to take a look at. It’s downloaded here on my iPad.” He glanced at the dining room table. “Can we—“

“Of course, whatever you need,” Chloe said, gesturing to the table.

Chloe and Philip each sat on one side or the other of Marsh. “This is a shot of the front entrance. There’s a woman holding a boy’s hand. It’s only from behind.”

“Oh god, that’s Parker,” Chloe said, holding one hand to her mouth and the other hand to her chest.

“Are you sure, Mrs. Kiriakis? It’s from behind.”

She nodded slowly and a sob choked her throat. “I know my son. It’s him.”

But do they recognize the woman WITH Parker???

Of course its Parker. What I want to know is if they recognize the woman. I'm guessing Parker knows her since he doesn't appear to be struggling.
