Chapter 5
DIMERA MANSION
WILL: Okay, the baby’s crying. What do we do now?
MIA: I’ll get her, you go downstairs. There should be a bottle of milk in the refrigerator. Warm it up a little bit, test it with your hand to make sure it’s not to hot, and then bring it back up here.
WILL: You got it!
Will ran downstairs. Mia picked up her baby and held her.
MIA: Hey, Sydney. How’s mommy’s girl? Are you hungry? Huh? Well, it’s okay, we’re gonna get you some food. Yeah, we will.
While Will was working on heating up the bottle, he was talking to one of his friends on the phone.
WILL: Yeah…I know how late it is, but can you get it here, or what?...Come on, dude, it’s a special day for her…please?...You can have it here within the hour? That’s awesome!...Okay…Thanks dude, I owe you…all right…bye.
The bottle had finished heating by then. Will tested it with his hand.
WILL: Perfect. I’m getting’ good at this!
Then, Will went upstairs, and gave the bottle to Mia, who was sitting in a rocking chair, so she could feed the baby.
WILL: So, how else can I help?
MIA: You could go back downstairs if you want. I’m just gonna feed little Sydney, here, and rock in the rocking chair with her for a little while.
WILL: Okay. I’ll be downstairs if you need me.
About an hour later, Mia came downstairs.
WILL: Hey.
MIA: Hey.
WILL: You look tired.
MIA: Yeah, I am.
Mia sat down next to Will on the couch, and put her head on his shoulder.
WILL: How’s Sydney?
MIA: Sleeping like an angel.
WILL: Like I said, she gets it from her mother.
MIA: Thanks. But you’ve never even seen me while I’m sleeping. (Yawn) But from the way I feel, you just might.
WILL: Hey, you can’t go to sleep yet.
MIA: How come?
WILL: I’ve got a surprise for you.
MIA: Hm, what is it?
WILL: I can’t tell you that. If I told you, then it wouldn’t be a surprise, would it? Come on, it should be here by now.
MIA: Do I have to get up?
WILL: You want your surprise, don’t you?
MIA: Yeah.
WILL: Then come on.
Will and Mia went outside. There, in the yard, was a piano.
MIA: A piano? Will, where did you get this?
WILL: A friend of mine is letting me borrow it for a little while. Come here, sit down on it.
Will sat in front of the keyboard, and Mia sat next to him.
MIA: Can you play this thing?
WILL: Yeah. I’ve been working on it for a little while. I don’t want to toot my own horn, but I think I’ve gotten pretty good.
MIA: Well, play something, then!
WILL: All right. This song is dedicated to the most beautiful woman in the world.
To see Will sing to Mia, go here:
Mia was speechless.
WILL: Happy birthday, Mia.
MIA: Will, that was beautiful!
WILL: I’m glad you liked it.
MIA: I loved it. Thank you so much. You have made this the best birthday I’ve ever had.
WILL: Well, you deserve a good birthday. Now, come on, let’s go back inside.
And, they went back inside, and they both sat down on the couch. Mia looked, and felt, extremely tired.
WILL: Hey, you look really tired.
MIA: Yeah, I still feel really tired.
WILL: Wanna lie down and take a nap?
MIA: That sounds nice.
WILL: Well, come on, then.
Mia slipped her shoes off, put her head on Will’s shoulder, and curled up next to him on the couch.
