BRADY PUB - GALWAY, IRELAND
A short time later, Ryleigh returned to the main part of the Pub, followed by an older, pleasant looking gentleman.
RYLEIGH: This is them.
COLM: Aye, I can see that, love. Hullo, you two. Colm Brady. Lovely to meet you.
CLAIRE: I’m Claire and this is my husband, Chase.
CHASE: Nice to meet you, too.
They shook hands.
COLM: Well, welcome to Ireland. It’s a pleasure to have the both of you here.
CLAIRE: Thank you! It’s so nice to be here!
CHASE: This place is really nice!
COLM: Cheers, we do our best. I tell you, we’ve all been absolutely buzzing about your visit, particularly our Aisling.
AISLING: Uncle Colm.
Aisling and Colm hugged.
CHASE: We’ve been really excited, as well!
COLM: Where’s that brother o’ mine gotten to?
AISLING: Sure, he went out a while ago. Said he had some work to take care of, so he did.
KEIR: Well, here he is.
Everyone turned as the door opened and Keir walked in.
COLM: Ach, the man himself. Looking well, Keir, so you are. Have you met thon visitors?
KEIR: I have.
COLM: Grand! So, we all know each other, then. Let’s have a bit of supper and craic, shall we?
CHASE: Sorry, what’s craic?
AISLING: Oh, it means fun, or “let’s have a laugh”.
COLM: Aye. As a wise Irishman once said, it never rains in a pub.
CLAIRE: Sounds good to me!
CHASE: Awesome!
COLM: Right, while Eamon there’s tending the bar, would one of you fine lasses like to give me a hand?
Kady, who had until now still been sulking after her earlier fight with Ryleigh, got up.
KADY: I’ll come.
COLM: Good lass, yourself.
Kady and Colm went into the back of the Pub. A short time later, they came back carrying trays of food, and Kady appeared to be in a much better mood than she had earlier.
COLM: We wanted to give you a wee taste of some of our specialties.
CHASE: This all looks so good!
CLAIRE: It does! I don’t know where to start.
KADY: Wherever you’d like. The leg o’ lamb’s particularly good. Granda makes a deadly leg o’ lamb!
MCKENNA: I’ve always preferred the rabbit pie, myself. But sure, go for what ya think looks best.
Soon, the whole family were sitting around eating and talking. Claire and Chase tried many of the dishes that had been brought out. A while later, after much of the food had been eaten, the family sat around and continued talking.
EAMON: ...for no sooner had she gotten out of the Pub then she was lifted up in the air like a paper doll, and blown into a flower bed.
Several people laughed.
MCKENNA: Catch yourself on, Eamon! You’ve sure made that up!
EAMON: Not a word, honest. Saw it with my own two eyes.
The group laughed again.
CHASE: This is really nice!
CLAIRE: Yeah. I’m so glad we’ve finally been able to get together.
KADY: Aye, it’s just a shame we didn’t know about our connection earlier.
Keir rolled his eyes, but nobody seemed to notice.
COLM: So, what’s next for you two?
CHASE: Well, we took a tour of Galway this morning, and there’s a few places we want to stop at.
CLAIRE: Then the day after, we’re heading down to Clare to see the Cliffs of Moher, and we also want to go to Kerry to see Killarney National Park.
CHASE: After that, we’re going to Cork, and then spend a couple days in Dublin. Then we’ll head up to Northern Ireland to see Derry and Donegal.
RYLEIGH: Sounds grand!
CLAIRE: It should be fun.
COLM: Aye. You’ll have a lovely trip, no doubt about that.
CHASE: Thanks. That’s the plan.
CLAIRE: It’s been so nice to meet all of you! You’ve been so welcoming.
AISLING: Well sure we’re family. It’s been good to meet you, as well!
MCKENNA: Aye. Come back and see us again before you leave.
CHASE: We will, for sure. You guys should come visit us in Salem, too! I’m sure the rest of my side of the family would be thrilled to meet you all!
KADY: That’s not a half bad idea, actually. Maybe we should.
CLAIRE: Totally! Well, it’s been so great, but we should probably be heading out, since it’s getting kind of late.
AISLING: Right. Have a good night, you two. And enjoy the rest of your trip.
CLAIRE: We will!
CHASE: Thanks for having us, Aisling, and all of you.
Claire and Chase got a round of hugs from their Irish cousins, except for Keir, who was at least polite enough to shake hands with them. Then, the two set off back to their hotel room for the night.
