Chapter 29
SALEM HIGH
JADE: You actually told them that I did it?
JOEY: I told them everything. Your part and mine. It was only fair. Whether I wanted to or not, I still did what I did. The only difference is, I actually feel bad about it. So yeah, I told Dean Faulkner and Principal Jackson everything. By the way, how's that winning thing, going for you?
Joey turned and walked away. As she walked through the hallways, Jade saw Henri and three of his friends from the musical. She noticed that they were staring at her. No, not just staring. They were glaring. And as they passed her by, they hummed a bit from the song “Peron's Latest Flame”, one of the songs that she had objected to earlier.
SALEM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Marlena and Jan were just beginning another session.
MARLENA: How have you been feeling since our last meeting, Jan?
JAN: Okay, I guess. A bit confused.
MARLENA: Understandable. Is there anything you wish to talk about.
Jan nodded.
JAN: Something happened to me on an island. I think it was Puerto Rico, or something like that. I know it was near South America, anyway.
MARLENA: All right. Do you know what happened?
JAN: No. That's what I want to figure out. Can't you put me under hypnosis again to find out what happened to me?
MARLENA: I see. Well, Jan, unfortunately, hypnosis doesn't work that way. I cannot force you to remember anything that your mind is not ready to remember.
JAN: Isn't there something you can do? I mean, the last time you did it, I started to remember things.
MARLENA: We can certainly try hypnosis, if you'd like.
It took a while to get ready, but eventually, Marlena had set everything up. Jan was lying on the couch, her eyes closed.
MARLENA: Are you back in the room with many doors?
JAN: Yes. But, there aren't as many this time.
MARLENA: That means there aren't as many memories being hidden from you. Try to open one of the doors.
After a moment, Jan got a flash of memory. Click

JAN: I...I was pregnant. Shawn was with me.
PIER
That evening, Hugh was out on the Pier. Ernan walked up behind him and gave him a shove.
HUGH: Bloody hell, Eirnin!
Ernan reached into his pocket and grabbed a gun.
ERNAN: Okay, runt. It's time for ye to go.
HUGH: What are you talking about?
ERNAN: I'm doing what I set out to do. What you asked me to do a long time ago. Protecting my daughter.
HUGH: She's not your daughter! She's mine!
ERNAN: You never wanted her! Not like I did! If Gwyneth hadn't have been stupid enough to fall for you, Nollaig would have been mine!
HUGH: But she's not! She's mine! Yes, I gave her to you to look after while I was sorting out my problems, but I am much better now. It is time for her to know the truth!
ERNAN: Well, I'm gonna make sure that doesn't happen. This is the end of the line for you.
