The wedding should be fun but at the same time I can understand and respect someone not being comfortable singing in public To be honest my husband really couldn't give the speech at our wedding so I did it and had him stand next to me and give our mothers the gifts but I respected that it just was out of his comfort zone It's Philips day too I think that should be factored into his decision Also singing with Chloe should be frightening enough she's a pro

I'm curious about this song that Philip doesn't want to sing.

Chapter 47d
“It’s a good choice, but … there are harmonies. I don’t do harmony,” he said decisively.
Kissing his cheek, she said, “Don’t worry, I’ll sing the harmonies.” She wrapped an arm around him and hugged him to her. “I love you so much. This is going to be the most memorable wedding ever.”
Philip sighed. He knew and Chloe knew she’d wear him down before long and get him to agree to singing with her. He could never say no to her. He leaned over to give her a kiss. “You know, I still want us to get away.”
“On a honeymoon, you mean.”
“No. I mean now,” he explained. “Even for a few days. June is still months away and I don’t want to wait for a honeymoon. I think we can both use a break.”
“Oh, because of what Mary said? I thought you didn’t like following Mary’s orders.”
“Well, this wasn’t an order. It was a suggestion, and it was a good one. I can’t even remember the last time I took a vacation." He placed his hand on her knee. "But I’m sure we never took a vacation together. And before long, we’ll be going to Disney every year or taking some vacation that’s centered around Parker. And that’ll be great. I want to see the world through his eyes. But right now, I want a vacation where I only see your eyes, where it’s just the two of us. Just for a few days. A long weekend even.”
“You don’t have to convince me Philip. I’m totally on board,” she said.
“Hmmm.”
“What?”
“On board,” Philip mused out loud. “Makes me think about the boat trip you mentioned a couple weeks ago.” Stroking her thigh, he said, “We should do it. We should rent a yacht and sail away for a few days. Unplug.”
Phlip’s delight was reflected in Chloe’s eyes. “Yes! Let’s do it, Philip.”
“Great,” He leaned forward to take his phone off the coffee table. “Okay with you if I just run with this? You handle the wedding details and I’ll handle vacation details?”
“I don’t mind at all. Just give me a little notice so I can pack.”
“A little??? You take two weeks just to pack for a two-day business trip,” he joked.
“In that case, I’ll start now.”

Glad that they're thinking of getting away for a little while. That will be nice for them. Can we please have previews, Kpatch?

Hahahaha--the two weeks to pack line is great!
I'm loving these last few chapters--they're just such fun!
And....previews would be great, if that's a possibility....

I’m so happy you’ve been enjoying these chapters. Thank you for reading and commenting! I think you’ll like the escapism of going on a getaway with Chloe and Philip, and that’s what’s coming up next! Edited to add: melly , that two weeks to pack was based on personal experience. That would be me!

I think a long weekend break is just the ticket for these two Hopefully Philip will be in better spirits about the wedding and she'll be less demanding after

Chapter 48a
Vacation!
Philip booked the vacation with Chicago Elite Yacht Rentals, the division of Great Lakes Cruise Company that specializes in private cruises for two or more on the Great Lakes. So they boarded the “Aquatic Road” yacht at the pier off Lake Shore Drive on Saturday morning. The yacht would make one stop in Canada and spend the rest of the time at sea. It was springtime and would still be chilly on the lake, but it was perfect snuggling weather.
Chloe wasn’t certain that Philip actually knew how to take a vacation. He didn’t always understand the concept of a weekend as a time to rest and recharge. He was always checking his phone for business calls, texts, and emails. “When you’re the head of a company, you’re never off,” he told her time and time again, and she got it. He had huge responsibilities. But when they reconciled, they both agreed to concentrate more on each other and their family than on business. Chloe knew that this extended weekend could be a challenge for him.
They both agreed to unplug completely, and would only take calls from Parker, Mary, and Parker’s day care team. Mary and Dick ended up taking care of Parker while Philip and Chloe went off on their mini cruise vacation.
They would be gone only three nights, from Saturday to Tuesday. Mary would bring Parker to day care on Tuesday morning and Philip and Chloe would pick him up late Tuesday afternoon.
Their stateroom was known as the “owner’s suite,” a 400 square foot room on Deck 3, with an ocean view, interior and exterior entrances, French doors leading to a private terrace with a hot tub, a complimentary minibar, a queen bed and a sofa, sitting area, in-room safe, evening canapés, and the services of a dedicated butler. The small staff consisted of seven people: the butler who doubled as their cabin steward and laundry attendant, a waitress in the dining room, a chef, the Captain, two ship’s officers, and a maintenance technician.

To have such a "small staff"....clearly I live in a very different world than the Kiriakises! Looking forward to this trip! *i always have a bag packed, so if I decide to take a road trip all I have to do is grab some clothes--I can leave in just under 15 minutes!
