What a mess! Can't say I'm sad to see Lani and Summer go. But I hate that the writers create these long-lost children out of thin air, do next to nothing with them (at least in Lani's case), and then just write them out after a few months. What's the point?
Sad about Shawn and Belle though. What does this mean for Claire? She's the best of the child actors, in my opinion. Will Phillip be next?
I guess we can look forward to Days of our Hernandezes??? 6 of them on in total (counting Arianna), but poor Marlena will have lost all her kids and grandkids.

If this is true I won't miss Summer a bit. Lani is pretty good with Theo but otherwise she's very bland.
Claire is old enough that she could stay in Salem with Marlena and John or with Hope.

YES! YES! I am so glad Lani & Summer are gone! They are so pointless! Summer never should've been brought on to the show in the first place. And the show never did anything significant with Lani either. She was just boring and insipid. Why even make her Abe's daughter in the first place? Seems pretty pointless now. I won't be surprised if in a year Lani is quickly forgotten.
I'm also very glad that Belle's gone too. I have been so irritated with her and I also found her annoying. Her storylines were pointless & she & Philip suck.
The only character I'm sad to see go is Shawn. Wonder what this news means for Claire's future now.

I agree that if Summer and Lani are really out I'm happy to hear it. I don't hate Lani but she's a complete bore and I'm not impressed with the actress. No loss there.
Summer never should have happened to begin with. I hope this means she will turn out to be a con artist.
While I think Belle is a complete brat. I do like Shawn and Belle and I was hoping that Belle's brattiness would subside eventually and she and Shawn would reconcile. I am disappointed that they aren't sticking around. If they go, I agree that keeping Claire in town - with Marlena and John maybe - would be a good idea.
I agree with the author of the piece that this is getting to be a very annoying pattern with Days where they spend so much time bringing in new characters, doing little to nothing with them, then getting rid of them when a new team comes in. It IS very hard to get invested in the characters and stories.

I'm hoping the mention of Summer as a grifter means she isn't Maggie's daughter after all.

Good point, fluffysmom. For some reason female characters always tend to get the short end of the stick more than male characters do. Maybe the writers don't seem to value them as much for whatever reason? Because it seems like for the last five years many female newbies have been introduced & bombed horribly with shoddy writing & poor audience reception. Looks like Lani & Summer will be added to the long list of failed new female characters. |

I'm hoping they recant Summer being Maggie's kid. They've undone history before, so that can re-undo it. I'm good with Summer and Lani being gone since they're both dull as dust. With Belle leaving, I wonder if Philip is next. Unless of course, with the return of Chloe…. OMG I just got excited about the show for the first time in a long time. wendylou and fluffysmom, what do you think? Days of our Hernandezes. @andyroo, that is both funny and unfunny. fluffysmom and sevenna92, really good point about the failure of new female characters, one after the other after the other. Make it stop. I really hope the story is accurate heroicmuse. Thanks for posting. |

I think Philip has plenty to occupy him if Belle leaves town. He is involved with Deimos and Victor.
I think Chloe returns to Salem in May.

I wonder how long we are stuck with Summer and Lani if these rumors are true. Jason47 says Sal Stowers (Lani) stopped taping in December. I don't know about anyone else. I expect that Summer will cause trouble for a bit, get exposed as a fraud/thief/whatever and either leave town or Roman will make his one arrest of the year. |
