so I chose with someone special (my husband) with friends two other couples and go on vacation because we are going to spend the long weekend away in Ottawa for the winterlude festival with them and go ice skating on the Rideau Canal as well as have our own time alone as well

We don't celebrate much in the way of traditional holidays. I am not to sure what we will be doing. Occasionally we speak song lyrics to each other in a broken erratic Captain James T. Kirk voice. Depending on the song it can be pretty funny.

We exchange cards and sometimes a small gift. We spend the day with the kids. None of the grandparents live close enough to babysit.

Nope. Nothing. Most years we walk through the card aisle at the grocery store or something and pick out cards for each other, hand them over, read them, and then put them back. Why spend $10 on two cards you're just going to throw away? No thanks. Plus, this way, we can pick multiple cards if we find more than one that we like.

I'm a a lonely old spinster so I just spend the day crying into my coffee and trying to avoid razor blades.

Nope. I don't like any of the "Hallmark" holidays. I love my husband and kids every day and I let them know it.

I don't do anything for Valentine's Day. I know my daddy usually gives my mom flowers & chocolates and also gives me chocolates & a stuffed animal occasionally but that's about it. Since I'm not dating anybody it's just like any ordinary day.

before I met my husband and I was single I use to get together with the girls and watch cheesy movies with delicious looking men that were often shirtless in the movies and we would pig out on junk food and wine UhSir I can understand doing nothing cuz it is a hallmark day, this year we opted for a getaway cuz we are moving soon and my husband wants to see a bit of Ontario before we leave so we used the fact that it is a long weekend as it is a bit of a drive we have no kids yet so we want to enjoy these a bit before they enter the picture

We'll have a special dinner on Sunday and exchange gifts, then go out some other day during the week when the restaurants are less busy.
Speaking of special dinners, I'm cooking. LOL. Anyone have any ideas for what to make (meaning food) for a romantic dinner?

try making a chicken parmesan with the long noodles and make it so you are sharing it and you can meet with a kiss on the noodles for dessert just use heart shaped pans for baked goods and be cheesy

For the last few years, I've celebrated Valentine's Day by myself since I don't have a partner at the moment. This year it's on a Sunday which means the chances are about 50% that we will end up babysitting the kids anyway. Anyhow, usually I make myself a nice meal and watch a movie I want to watch. Kpatch I think it in part depends on what you and your partner like to eat. LOL. I personally think pasta dishes and a bottle of wine are romantic. If I were cooking for a romantic dinner with a partner I'd probably go for something that looks fancy but is easy to make, to get that romantic restaurant feel without spending the whole evening in the kitchen.

Anyone have any ideas for what to make (meaning food) for a romantic dinner? How about crab legs? They're fairly easy to make. They're kind of messy but all that melted butter can be kind of sexy not to mention delicious.

A salad with mixed greens, berries, apples and walnuts or pecans with a cranberry vinaigrette.
