michaelfairmansoaps.com/news/nadia-bjorlin-discusses-her-departure-from-days-of-our-lives-new-beginnings/2011/07/27/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitterNadia Bjorlin discusses her departure from Days of our Lives & new beginnings! Many long time Days of our Lives fans were extremely disheartened to hear the news that Nadia Bjorlin had been written out of the NBC soap to make way for the new reset version of the series to debut in late September. Bjorlin, who for over a decade played Chloe Lane had more twists and turns thrown at her during her run, that soap fans were left bewildered at times at what the writers were thinking! In recent months, the show had Chloe as a prostitute! That was a far cry from the endearing “Ghoul Girl”, who we all knew that underneath those glasses and frumpy sweater was a raving beauty! On-Air On-Soaps caught up with Nadia at the season three Venice kick-off on Sunday night and we discussed: how she felt about Chloe’s ending, her final days on the set, what she would have liked to see happen for her beleaguered character, those amazing fans who have followed her on the show and elsewhere, and what is next in her blooming career. So without further ado, here is what Nadia had to say about it all! Nadia Bjorlin: “Days of our Lives has been such an amazing huge part of my life and I will always be so grateful to them. It would have been 12 years come this October for me on the show as that is when I started working there. I loved playing “Ghoul Girl”. And I adore Chloe and all of her faults as well. Realistically, I was not happy towards the end. OK, I was not happy at all. I felt it was really out of character for Chloe to end up this way. I tried my best to redeem her, but sometimes as an actress there is only so much you can do. But I have always adored the place and everyone who works there. We had to tape these party scenes my last week of work, and it kind of felt appropriate. I mean, we were doing a little celebrating as well at work. Just the fact that everyone was there and I could go to lunch with them, or some nights because we were working late I got to go to dinner with them and so that made it special. It felt very nostalgic and like the good ole’ days of the long working hours. It was fun to talk to everybody and have a proper goodbye. On one level it does feel like the end of an era, but it does not feel like the end for me. Never say never on Days of our Lives and off screen, all of these people will continue to be in my life. And you never know what is going to happen. I was completely touched by how many people sent so much love and support on Twitter. Fans sent flowers, chocolates, and cakes and foods, and frankly, I was ill by Friday night from all the sugar I had been consuming. (Laughs) It was a nice last day that is for sure. I think my last airdate is September 28th, and they leave it very open ended for Chloe. It was kind of sweet that my last scene was with Brady and it was kind of a full circle moment. Eric Martsolf (Brady) and I were kind of joking that, “For four years they have kept us apart and we never even spoke with each other!” (Laughs) But at least now at the very end they do connect in some way. I would have liked to have seen Brady and Chloe truly reconnect. I think that would have been appropriate and fun. I think there was a story there that was not told. I felt regardless if you are a Broe or Phloe fan; neither story got its chance. Right as Phillip and Chloe got reconnected, Jay Johnson (Ex-Phillip) left the show, and right after that, I am leaving the show. So, I never really got to explore the good ole’ days of that love triangle with Phillip and Brady. I was hoping that would be in the cards, but it wasn’t. But I am really excited about all the new projects I am working on! I am going to do a movie in August, and have been cast as one of the three leads in an independent film that is a romantic comedy. It is called Divorce Invitation with Jonathan Bennett, Jamie-Lyn Sigler and Elliot Gould. It is an awesome cast. There are other things on the horizon right now. I think very shortly there will be announcement involving another show I am involved as well. And of course, I am so excited about season three of Venice and playing Lara. So good things are happening!”

I'm glad to hear that like the rest of us,Nadia wasn't happy with her storyline and the out of character direction Chloe had taken. Also glad to hear she felt there was more story to be told with Jay.I don't think I'll ever forgive the writers for not going there after the Phelanie marriage was over.

Yes, thanks, slyn. Chloe Lane you will be missed. I think she spoke what many of us found disappointing...the lack of interaction with Brady and what should have truly been the story when she returned and Brady was brought back to Salem and thrown into Nicole and EJ's story. Chloe and Brady would have been equally as hot as she and Phillip, although I wanted my Phloe endgame. But then again, she did get Lucas for awhile

I am not going to wax nostalgic on Chloe. I was more of a fan of certain storylines of hers and not the character. I mean how could I be a Chloe fan? Who was she anyway? As far as I can see a pretty face and willing body. (Yep I said it.)
i wanted her to be developed and not just thrown from plot to plot like she always had been. If they were going to do a rock bottom anything for your baby prostitution story they should have at least made it emotional and took us on a journey to see how she got to that point.
She was a character with a string of exes but we had no clue which one held the biggest chunk of her heart. Except for Lucas, I think she always loved the one she was currently with the best. That is not good for creating a lasting compelling character. She basically was just wifey or girlfriend du jour.
I wish Nadia all the best in the future. I think she long should have made it big in primetime.

I will never understand why the writers didn't revisit the whole Phloe vs Broe triangle again when Brady was brought back to the show. That was one of the most popular triangles of all time for Days and both couples were equally popular. The best part of that triangle was that you were either a hardcore Phloe fan or you were a hardcore Broe fan and since Brady and Philip were so different from each other it made it so much easier to root for one couple over the other. Brady and Chloe had so much in common with each other being the artistic types while Philip and Chloe were exact opposites of each other who had the most amazing chemistry in their scenes together and you couldn't help wanting them to be with each other. These were the days when we actually got to see couples fall in love and work to find their way back to each other when things don't go right in their relationship. I really miss those days so much.
The writers could have done a really great story with Broe and Phloe exploring what happened in Vienna to cause Broe to drift apart and for Brady to turn to drugs.
I am glad that Nadia even acknowledged in her interview that she wanted to see more of a storyline explored with both Phloe and Broe since there was definitely a lot of stuff that never got a chance to surface in regards for Chloe's feelings for both Philip and Brady.
Maybe someday both Nadia and Jay will come back to Days and the new writers will get a chance to reexplore the whole Broe vs Phloe triangle again. Hopefully this time Phloe will be endgame though.

@karebr- I completely agree with your post. I would have loved to have seen the Broe vs Phloe adult version play out. In Ken Corday's book he said that the triangle was one of the two or three stories in Days history that had the most fans contacting the studio. He said it seemed to be an even split on who the fans were rooting for. I believe it was only topped by the time fans were led to believe Marlena was killed by the Salem Strangler.
I will miss Nadia and I enjoyed this candid interview.

fluffysmomCould you imagine the fan reaction Days would have received if the writers would have done Broe vs Phloe and had Chloe become pregnant and not know whether it was Philip or Brady who was the father and kept us waiting on the edge of our seats until after the baby was born and then had it revealed who the daddy was?

You are spot on karebr...and with Victor involved, it would have been a trifecta of Kiriakis crazy! Maybe we should ask jkjpatch to help us out with a little story?

I'm glad they didn't do another phloe/broe triangle. They didn't have all of the original actors and I think it would've been a mistake to try to recreate a triangle that was so hugely popular in 2001 with a recast. It just wouldn't have had the same appeal imo. They should have given Brady and Chloe some closure though.

I will miss Nadia and I enjoyed this candid interview. See this just makes me even more upset with Corday for letting DH destroy Chloe for the past four years. He knew how popular she was and how much fan support she garnered during the phloe/broe days, yet he stood idly by while Higley made her go from guy to guy and eventually turned her into a hooker.

Darlin', you need to head over to the kpatch fancreations thread. I just finished a whole Phloe quintet. And just in case you think I'm resting on my laurels, I have written, but not yet posted, a story that explores what happened in Vienna to Brady and Chloe. There is a prequel called Being Chloe, and that leads into The Way We Were, which is the Broe story. Look for it soon.

I agree with you shi22 on the fact that broe should have been given some closure and that is what i meant when i said that broe vs phloe should have been explored again just to give broe some final closure and to allow phloe to move on with the next chapter in their story. It would definitely be hard to recreate the triangle again since Brady is no longer played by Kyle Lowder and the writers wouldn't be able to do Broe flashbacks like they can with Phloe but Broe does still have quite a huge fanbase even with Eric Marstolf in the role and it could be kinda interesting to see how him and Nadia could handle Broe. Phloe would definitely have a bigger advantage over Broe though because as long as Jay is playing Philip and Nadia is playing Chloe the writers could use flashbacks showing how great their love story was the first time around until Jay decided to leave Days leaving the door wide open for Broe to be together. Eric's Brady is so much different than Kyle's Brady so Broe may not be so annoying this time around. I still want Phloe to be the ones who get the happily ever after.

It makes me smile and sad at the same time. Phloe is definitely the Liason of Days. I remember that "triangle" well. I put triangle in quotes because it was easy to tell since the first Broe scene that Brady was going to come out on top. I still enjoyed my Phloe scenes anyway, but it definitely put a damper on things for me. I think they should have explored Broe this go round. If only to figure out what happened in their marriage. But I personally think what they did for Phloe this go round was better than triangle redux. They solidified them as best friends and gave them a child. In soap world that is huge. That means no matter what there will always be a Philip and Chloe story. That is a major gift to Phloe fans when Chloe is a poorly drawn supporting character and Philip was cultivated to be a lead.

Phloe was supposed to be endgame in the original triangle if Jay hadn't left when he did. I am very happy that we got a Phloe baby. They always have a connection that pulls them together even before Parker was born.
