We knew she was going to make us wait, didn't we? Lol.
I'm just glad Mary is back. I wonder what Rhoda is up to... ;-)
I am curious what Dr. Richards will think of this reunion after such a difficult year!

Sounds good, but I admit to being a little worried about this whole "Philip holds back" thing...

Chapter 7b
Chloe nervously tucked her hair behind her ears and looked downward as she told the doctor her story. “Remember how adamant I was that Philip cheated on me? Well, I was wrong, completely wrong.”
“Oh?” The doctor cocked her head. “How did you learn you were wrong?”
Looking up, Chloe shook her head. “The girl I thought he was cheating with. She told me what happened and it was exactly what Philip said.”
“You believed her?”
“Oh yes, she had no reason to lie,” Chloe said, sitting up straighter in her chair. “She didn’t even know I suspected she was having an affair with Philip. Dr. Richards, I really screwed up everything.”
“Why do you think you were so ready to believe Philip cheated on you?”
“I don’t know. I think deep down I expect things won’t work out for me. I kind of think there’s a time limit on being happy and my time was running out.”
“Why do you think there’s a time limit?”
“My history. Ever since I was a child….” Chloe stopped and looked at the doctor trying to remember what she revealed in her profile questionnaire and what all they talked about over the past few months. “I told you I was an orphan, right? Well, things never worked out for me for long. A few years at a time at most.”
The doctor wrote something on her notepad. “So it sounds like it was a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy, huh?”
“I guess so.”
“I see. Tell me Chloe, do you love Philip?”
“What?” For some reason, the question surprised Chloe. How she felt about Philip was a given. She thought everyone knew that. “Yes of course! I love Philip more than …” Chloe’s voice trailed off and she choked up. “… anything. But that’s not the problem. This isn’t about love, Dr. Richards. It’s about trust. See, I need to prove to Philip that I can trust him. It’s all on me,” she explained, pressing her hand to her chest. “It took a lot of convincing on my part, but now he’s willing to give me another chance and I have to get it right this time. I have to. There’s no room for error.”
Dr. Richards sat back in her leather chair. “That’s a lot of pressure on you.”
“That’s okay. I mean, honestly, he’s done nothing wrong and I put him through hell. For no reason. I’m ecstatic that he’s willing to forgive me. But ….” Chloe stopped talking and blew out some air.
“But what, Chloe? Whatever it is, you can say it.”
“It’s … conditional.”
“Really?” The doctor scowled. “And what is the condition?”
She held up her index finger. “One chance,” Chloe said as if she was reciting. “I get one more chance. One shot at happily ever after. Or nothing. If I mess up….”
“You mean … one chance for the rest of your life?”
“Right, I have to be perfect. For the rest of my life, or I won’t have Philip in my life anymore.”
Dr. Richards looked skeptical. “Nobody’s perfect, Chloe.”
“I have to be.”
The doctor shifted in her chair and sat up even straighter, looking at Chloe for a long moment. She turned her attention to her computer and clicked a few keys. “I’m going to email you a link to a website. You need to learn some relaxation techniques or you’re going to make yourself ….”
“Crazy? Sometimes I think I already am.”
“Chloe dear, I know crazy, and you don’t come close. But you do have a few issues.”
“Right,” Chloe laughed sarcastically. “A few hundred. Remind me to tell you about how I used my son to try and break up my ex and his girlfriend.”
“Whenever you’re ready.” The doctor smiled warmly. “Don’t worry, Chloe, we’ll work through those issues together over the coming weeks. Why don’t you send Philip in. Then I’ll call you back and we’ll all chat.”

Interesting session. Dr. Richards is right that it's a lot of pressure on Chloe though Philip is also right that he and Chloe can't keep going in circles with her insecurities. Can't wait to see what Dr. Richards has to say to Philip!

That is definitely a lot of pressure on Chloe. Expecting yourself or someone else be perfect is a lofty expectation. I wonder what Dr. Richards will say to Philip.
