Good for Craig! Nancy certainly doesn't have to like her daughter's choices, but she does need to accept them and support Chloe.

Go Craig! Maybe he and Maggie can just put Nancy and Victor in a room and let them rant at one another until the end of time, while the rest of the family moves on. I sense Chloe is going to need that session with Dr. Richards today!

I'm glad Craig and Chloe had a chance to have a private conversation.
I don't think Nancy can forget the way Philip and his friends treated Chloe when she first came to Salem. Add to that the agony and suffering that Kate has put Chloe through. I think Nancy believes that she is protecting Chloe by wanting her to stay away from Philip.

Chapter 6b
“I wish she’d just accept the fact that Philip is it for me,” Chloe said, turning to face Craig. “If things work out the way I hope they will, he’s going to be in my life forever. And Nancy isn’t going to change that by throwing a hundred tantrums.”
“That’s what I told her,” Craig said flatly.
“You did?”
“I did. And don’t look so surprised.” Craig got off the bed and walked toward the door. Without turning around he said, “I told her if she wants a relationship with you and Parker, she’s going to have to respect your decisions and she has to accept Philip.”
Rolling her eyes, Chloe mumbled, “Bet that went over like a lead balloon.”
Craig turned back around and walked toward Chloe. “Don’t worry about her.”
“But I do, Dad.” Chloe looked up at her father standing over her. “Even if I don’t always like her, she’s still my mother.”
“She loves you, you know.”
Chloe nodded, but she said, “Sometimes it’s hard to tell.”
Craig sat down on the bed again and took Chloe’s hand. “Look sweetheart, you need to get some rest, so your mother and I are going to a hotel tonight.”
“A hotel? Aren’t you flying to LaGuardia tonight?”
“Tomorrow. We’re flying out in the morning.”
“Oh.” Chloe focused on a spot on the floor. “I thought you were flying home tonight.” She looked back at Craig. “Dad, you don’t need to go to a hotel. That’s silly. You can stay in the guest room just like you have been for the past few nights. I’ll hold my tongue. I promise.”
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep.” Smiling, Craig touched Chloe’s cheek. “Sweetheart, it’s okay. Nancy needs to cool off too. I think she’ll be in a better frame of mind if we have a change of scenery.”
Chloe looked down. She didn’t mean to drive her parents away, but on the other hand, she couldn’t wait for Nancy to leave. “I’m sorry, Dad.”
“It’s fine. You can call her in a couple days.”
Chloe nodded. “I’m really sorry about all this. I’m sorry that Parker hit her.” Chloe choked up a little and leaned on Craig’s shoulder. “And I’m sorry she hates my guys so much.”
Putting his arm around her, he said, “She’ll come around. I’ll keep working on her.” He kissed her forehead. “Meantime, you take care of yourself, sweetheart. And if it helps, I’m rooting for you and Philip. Let me know how it goes.” He gave her a squeeze before getting up.
“Thanks Dad. I will.”
Reaching for the doorknob, he turned and winked at her. “I love you.”
“Love you too, Dad.”
As soon as Craig left, Chloe got up and took her phone out of her purse. She was dying to talk to Philip. She needed him so much. She needed him to reassure her that everything would be alright. “No. … No, I’m not going to burden him with this.” She set her phone down on the nightstand. “He doesn’t need to hear about my fight with Nancy right now. There are more important things for us to deal with.” She reminded herself that he’d be home tomorrow. Tomorrow would be a whole new start for them. She hoped he was as happy about it as she was.

I'm not sure how I feel about Chloe not calling Philip. On the one hand, it's good that she wants to give him his space. On the other, she needs to be able to communicate about what's going on with her if this is ever going to work.
Chloe is pinning all her hopes on tomorrow. I hope she can be patient if it takes time to work through the problems in her relationship with Philip.
I'm glad Craig was so supportive.

Craig taking Nancy to a hotel is a good ideas--no reason to stick around and make matters worse. Nancy needs to understand how close she is to alienating her daughter and grandson permanently. Maybe SHE needs some sessions with Dr Richards, as well??

Craig is a Phloe shipper!!!
I am proud that Chloe is trying to handle this on her own. Philip doesn't need to know that Nancy flipped out. Maybe she can share that detail when he tells her about Victor's presumed bad reaction.

Telling Philip is important in terms of communication and family relations; however, she doesn't need to tell him right away. If she calms down first, it's more of an FYI than a fix this for me conversation.

Chloe really should tell Philip. However, I know that she knows that Philip needs space. I love Craig! I'm glad he's being so supportive of Chloe!

I like Craig as a voice of reason when Nancy and Chloe aren't getting along. He's right that both Chloe and Nancy need some space.

Author’s note:
The last two chapters were posted out of sequence. Woops. In reality (ya right) they actually occurred prior to Chapter 5, the chapters when Philip was flying commercial. Chapters 6a and 6b occurred the night before Philip was on the plane, while he was still in Reno.
I wrote Chapters 6a and 6b over the weekend because y’all wanted more Craig. A little thank-you present for my beloved readers!

Chapter 6c
Chloe was sitting at her desk in the office looking from her computer monitor to a yellow pad, writing some notes for a meeting later in the day. Her mind kept drifting back to the argument she had with Nancy yesterday. Nancy had a way of goading Chloe into saying things she later regretted. It had been that way almost since the moment she met her mother.
Now that Chloe was a mother herself, she knew exactly how it felt when your child was rude to you; it was an awful feeling, the worst in the world. And as a mother, if you think your child is being mistreated, there’s absolutely nothing you wouldn’t do to intervene.
Chloe sighed. She should really call Nancy and apologize. She glanced at the timeclock in the upper corner of the computer screen. Right now, Nancy and Craig would be in the air on their flight back to New York. And Philip, he should be arriving at the office any minute now.
The idea of seeing him caused little butterflies to flutter around in her stomach — a feeling she hadn’t experienced in years.
A last-minute meeting with the Beats executive kept him in Reno for an extra night. He texted her this morning that he was catching the first flight out and would be back in plenty of time for their 3:00 meeting with Dr. Richards. The nanny would stay with Parker until they got home.
Until they got home.
Chloe felt a chill rush through her body at the thought of Philip coming home with her tonight — of spending the night with him for the first time in ages. Of touching him and being touched, the way only Philip knew how. She imagined falling asleep next to him, breathing in rhythm, her head on his chest, arms and legs intertwined, hearts beating as one. She was most definitely going to suggest he stay, but she secretly hoped that things would evolve naturally and it would just happen without asking.
She returned her attention to the pad on her desk and continued to write notes, when she suddenly became aware that she wasn’t alone. Her head jerked up and an involuntary smile widened across her face when she saw Philip standing near her desk.

I'm glad Chloe's being the adult with Nancy!
Chloe may end up needing a cold shower after the Dr Richards session....I'm not convinced that she's going to get the--ahem--one on one time with Philip that she wants.

Oooh can't wait to see Philip and Chloe interact. Great cliffhanger!
I love the introspection in this story. You really get us inside Philip or Chloe's head.
