Thanks for the previews Kpatch. It sounds like an interesting week ahead. I wonder what Nancy will propose.

Chapter 3c
“Daddy wen’ away and didn’t come back,” Parker reasoned.
Chloe was not going to get sucked into Parker’s little pity party. “That’s not true, Parker. You see your father all the time, even though he doesn’t live here anymore.”
“I don’ like her.”
Chloe knew that was a valid comment, so she channeled Dr. Richards and asked him, “Why not?”
“She’s mean. She says mean things ‘bout Daddy.”
“Yeah, I heard about that,” Chloe said sadly.
“You mean yes, not yeah,” Parker reminded her.
Chloe chuckled and Parker rolled onto his back.
“Come here,” she said, holding out her arms.
Parker sat up and nestled into Chloe’s embrace. She folded her arms around him. “I love you so much, Parker. Everything’s going to be okay.”
“It is?”
“Yes, it is.”
Parker leaned away to look at his mother. “Does that mean Daddy’s coming home?”
Chloe hesitated before answering. “Um. Well, yes. He’s still away, but he’ll be home soon.”
“I think he’s gonna yell at me.” Parker put his thumb in his mouth. “Cuzza hitting gramma.”
“Well you’re right, sweetheart.” Chloe gently pulled Parker’s thumb from his mouth. She cupped his chin and looked him in the eye, while speaking calmly yet firmly. “Your daddy and I are very disappointed in you. You can’t hit people just because you don’t like what they say."
“But she was wrong.”
“Yes,” Chloe nodded. “She was wrong, but hitting her wasn’t right and it doesn’t change the way she thinks. Do you understand? You can’t hit people anymore. That was a bad thing to do, Parker. And I know you already know that was bad.”
“You gonna take me back to sy … syke … the head doctor?”
“Probably. But it’s not a punishment. She’s trying to help us — all of us. And if you would listen to us and stop behaving badly, we wouldn’t have to take you to talk to Dr. Mary as often. Do you understand?”
Parker nodded. “Can I have some cookies and milk now Mommy?”
Chloe sighed heavily. “Did you have your dinner yet?” Parker shook his head no. “You know the rules, angel. Dinner first, including veggies. Milk and cookies after.” Chloe got up off the bed and held out her hand. “Come, let’s get you something to eat.”
Parker got up off the bed and started to take Chloe’s hand. He stopped and looked up at Chloe. “Is gramma still here?”
“Yes. They’ll be leaving soon.”
Parker turned around and climbed back up on his bed. “I’ll eat later. Lemme know when they’re gone.”

Uh oh. Looks like Nancy really made an enemy out of Parker with her comments. I liked how Chloe found the right balance between empathy and firmness while talking to him. Great start to the week Kpatch! I can't wait to see what happens next.

I liked that scene. Chloe was firm with Parker, but also understood why he did what he did. I just hope that Chloe and Philip can find a way to stop Parker from hitting people.

Sheesh. Parker dislikes Nancy enough that he's avoiding her...what a pill she can be!

I'm sure Parker would rather stay in his room and play his video games rather than get a lecture from Nancy.
I'm glad that Chloe is trying to explain to him why he can't hit people.

Chapter 4a
When Chloe came back into the living room, she found Craig and Nancy sitting on the sofa arguing in a loud whisper. Seeing your parents arguing is distressing at any age, whether you’re five, fifteen, or thirty. They hadn’t changed a bit since she was a teenager, Chloe thought to herself. And their arguing irritated her just as much now as they did then. She often wondered how on earth they managed to stay together all these years, while she herself couldn’t get even one relationship right.
They stopped their arguing as soon as they realized Chloe was in the room. Nancy put on an exaggerated smile and approached her daughter. “Chloe, sweetie. I’m sorry if I was harsh. It’s just that I’m worried about you and Parker. This is an unhealthy environment for you, living in this apartment where you lived with that scummy—“ Craig cleared his throat to redirect Nancy. “Right. Sorry. What I’m trying to say is … Craig and I want you and Parker to move to New York. Live near us.”
Chloe’s eyes bugged out. “What???”
“We think it would be best,” Nancy said calmly, “for you and Parker to get as far away from Chicago and that wretched man as you possibly can. He’s clearly a bad influence on Parker.”
Chloe shook her head in disbelief and started picking toys up off the floor. “That wretched man happens to be Parker’s father.” And the man I love, she thought to herself. “I won’t take Parker away from him.”
“Why not?” Nancy argued. “He took Parker away from you when he left Salem and moved to Chicago.”
“That was different,” she said tossing an armful of toys into a wheeled toy box. “Look Nancy, this isn’t up for discussion. I’m not leaving Chicago, period. Even if I wanted to, I signed a binding agreement as part of the divorce decree stating that if I move Parker out of state, then Philip has the right to request custody of Parker because I would be considered to be in violation of the custody agreement.”
“That’s ridiculous. That’s blackmail!” Nancy looked at Craig. “Your father agrees with me, don’t you Craig? That man should not have any rights at all where Parker’s concerned. If only Daniel were still Parker’s father, then none of this would be happening! Philip is a horrible individual. I could have predicted he’d cheat on you.”

Oh Nancy.... Daniel was never Parker's father. Yes, Philip should have rights--he's Parker's father. Chloe has a job, and one that pays well. In Chicago. If Parker resents you now, Nancy, think how bad it will be when he figures out it was your idea to move him away from his dad. Nancy is about as subtle as a tornado. Craig, when you figure out how nuts Nancy is, look me up...

Um Nancy, are you secretly getting advice from Theresa or from Eve? Because those are the people that come up with these sort of ludicrous plans.
I'm glad Chloe is standing her ground here. I hope Craig can talk some sense into Nancy.

Oh yes I forgot about Kim's last visit. I guess these types of ideas are now a Donovan family tradition!

Yep. I think Nancy is going to take this reunion worse than even Victor! I hope Parker is not listening.

Wow! I knew Nancy was bad, but this bad? She's delusional if she thinks Chloe's gonna move with her and Craig, especially after that last scene with Parker. Speaking of Craig, I hope we get to see more of him.
