I'm glad that Philip is showing such restraint. He and Chloe both need time to work things out, and jumping right back in isn't going to help. Thanks for the chapter, Kpatch!

Philip is showing some restraint--wisely, I think. But can we blame Chloe for being disappointed that she's spending the night alone? I completely agree. I can't blame Chloe though. They've spent countless lonely nights apart.

Philip is taking all the right steps. I hope that's a good sign. But I know Dr. Richards will let them know ... soon, I hope!

Chapter 2
Chloe wheeled her weekender through O’Hare toward the ground transportation station so she could catch a cab home. She used her mobile phone to text her father that she landed and would be home in about an hour. Then she opened the email reply from Dr. Richards and scowled when she read it. “Really?” she said out loud. Dr. Richards replied that if they were attempting a reconciliation, she wanted to see both Philip and Chloe together, and right away. She had an opening tomorrow afternoon.
Hmmm. Chloe wasn't expecting that. She figured she’d see the doctor alone to begin with and, at some point, Philip would join a session here or there. She wondered how he’d feel about this. He did mention couples counseling when they were talking last night, so hopefully he’d be okay with it. He’d just be returning to Chicago tomorrow, so she wasn’t sure if it would work for him, schedule-wise; suppose he had a meeting or some other conflict? Only one way to find out. Hopefully, he’d be able to juggle his schedule. This was important.
Inside the cab, she texted Philip saying she landed and was en route home, and asked if he could make the meeting with Dr. Richards. She fished some gum out of her purse and was about to pop it in her mouth when her phone buzzed. It was Philip with a reply. He texted yes, with a little smilie emoticon.
She warmed at the thought of Philip’s immediate response. He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t play games. It was clear he was serious about this and was making it a priority. Chloe smiled and held the phone to her chest thinking that there needs to be an emoticon with dimples.

I think Chloe just found her new project ... Philip-themed emoticons!
I'm glad Philip is on board with Mary. Can't wait to see her and how their session goes. I'm guessing there will be some bumps along the way. I am happy Chloe seems so determined now.

I'm glad Philip was so open to the session and happy about it. And that Dr. Richards could fit them in so quickly. Can't wait to see how it goes!

That would be interesting, an emoticon with dimples...
I hope the appointment with Dr. Richards goes well!

I'm glad that Philip was agreeable to the session at short notice. I'm looking forward to seeing how the session goes.

Chapter 3a
Chloe barely got the key out of the lock when she was accosted by her mother at the door. “I was beginning to think you’d never get home,” Nancy said, already indignant.
Chloe felt her face redden. “Didn’t Craig tell you I called?” She was about to say something else, but Nancy was just getting started.
“It’s going to be a long time before I ever babysit that little monster of yours again. Look at what he did to me.” Nancy rolled up her sleeve to reveal a bruise on her upper arm. “It’ll be months before that heals. I’m a diabetic, you know.”
“I know,” Chloe said, sympathetically. “I’m really sorry Nancy. We’re going to speak to him.”
“We?? Who’s we? I hope you don’t mean Philip because he’ll just make things worse. He’s the cause of all this to begin with. Parker already takes after his father in more ways than one.”
“Nancy!” Craig rounded the corner and entered the living room from the hallway. “She just got home. Let her put down her luggage before you start in on her.” Craig opened his arms and hugged his daughter, kissing the top of her head. “Hello sweetheart.”
“Thank you, Craig.” Backing away from the hug, her first thought was her son. “Where’s Parker? In his room?”
“Yes. We confined him to his room,” Nancy huffed, “not that that’s much of a punishment for a spoiled child like your Parker. He practically has an entire F.A.O. Schwartz toy store in there.”
Chloe's patience was wearing thin and she just couldn't hold her temper any longer. “Sorry you don’t approve,” Chloe said sarcastically, squinting at Nancy, “but my maternal role models were pretty limited and I wanted to be sure to give my child what I didn’t have growing up.”
Dumbstruck, Nancy recoiled. “Craig, are you going to let her speak to me that way?”
“Excuse me,” Chloe said, pushing past her mother, “I’m going to go see my son.”

Nancy is a mess. What grandmother calls her only grandchild a monster? (Even if he is! And Parker isn't...he was probably just responding to something nasty that she said about Philip.) Thank goodness Craig is around to balance her crazy out a little!

Craig and Nancy! I love Craig and Nancy, even if Nancy is a little crazy. I'm glad Chloe didn't back down on this. Great chapter, Kpatch!
