Daytime Royalty Interview with Bren Foster

Daytime Royalty had the opportunity today to speak with Bren Foster (Quinn). We discussed his recent firing and subsequent rehiring, fan encounters, and his future plans.

Foster told us he really likes working at Days of Our Lives, even though it moves a lot more quickly than his previous work. “There’s not much physical action,” he said. “You’re generally on a set opposite the other actor, and that’s where most of the story tends to get played out, among the people.”

When asked about his audition, Foster told us he went to the initial audition with Days casting director Marnie Saitta and expected that if he were called back it would be to meet with the producers for another audition. Foster’s audition apparently went better than expected, though; his manager called and told him that his audition went so well that he did not need to audition for the producers: “I went straight to the studio test and got the job from there!”

Foster tells us that when he auditioned for the role, Quinn wasn’t Australian. “It wasn’t specified. When I went to my first audition, I went in as an American.” When he came in for his screen test, they asked him to do it with the Australian accent. “I guess maybe they liked it!”
When he first began working on Days, Marnie Saitta sat down with him discuss the history of his character. “[We discussed] his whereabouts, Vivian… how she’d had a relationship in Australia. That’s how [Quinn] came about.” Foster explained that he was given a backstory and some brief forward story for what is going to unfold for Quinn.

Foster has had a few opportunities to meet Days fans already. He attended Justin and Adrienne’s wedding reception hosted by Judi Evans, and he attended Nadia Bjorlin’s event benefitting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He also attended the Daytime Emmys. When asked about fan reaction to his character, he shared, “It’s been good! I’ve enjoyed it. I think that they like the character. The most common thing I hear is ‘I don’t like what you’re doing to Chloe.’”

Of course, we had to ask him about the latest Quinn news. On June 7th, it was announced that Foster, Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe), Tamara Braun (Taylor), and Francisco San Martin (Dario) would be exiting the show. This news was followed by the announcement on June 25th that Foster would actually be staying put. “I really don’t know how it panned out,” he explained. “They were going to write my character out, and then they decided not to… My character actually leaves, but then he makes a return.”

We asked Foster who he would choose to pair romantically with Quinn. Foster could not give us an answer to that question, but he did give us a bit of teaser of what’s coming up next. “At the moment, my mother and I are setting up the plans to attack Carly Manning. After that people are going to see a very, very unexpected side to Quinn. Maybe a little bit of martial arts action, too.”

Foster told us that his long term career goal is to be in films, but at the moment he is happy at Days. “I’m loving it. It’s great. I’m having a really good time and grateful for the opportunity. At the end of the day, I’m just happy that I get to keep working on Days. Everyone’s just lovely there. The actors are great. Everyone’s great. It’s a really nice place to be, so I’m more than happy to go back.”

And what about his screen partner Nadia and her scheduled departure from the show? Foster is hesitant to answer. “Who know what the future holds with that.”

Hmmm. I FF all of his scenes with Vivian, and I can't bear to watch the mess that's going on with Chloe, so I'm still not sure what exactly he adds to the show other than misery. If we're going to see a "very, very unexpected side to Quinn" then it had better show up soon.

This interview gives me high hopes for Nadia's return.They may have changed their minds or she will be back VERY VERY soon...I so hope so

I hope the fact that he is leaving and then returning doesn't mean he's leaving with Chloe. Yuck!

I just want the blackmailing of Chloe to be over. The entire prostitution thing however, I think I could like this character if I didn't despise his disgusting storyline.
