I was invited to a wedding by a woman I worked with 10 years ago. I see her once a year and would call her more of a friendly acquaintance than a friend. She and her fiance are 60+ years old. I am planning to attend the wedding. It will be a great opportunity to catch up with people I used to work with, and of course to wish the couple well.
So under these circumstances, what's an appropriate gift? I don't know if she's registered anywhere. The invitation did not specify, so let's assume for the sake of this thread that she's not.
Help.

A gift card to like Bed Bath & Beyond or a store like that would be good, a gift card to a nice restaurant, or just a prepaid Visa card that they can use anywhere. I'm sure they probably have most of what they need already, so that would allow them to get/do something that they may not do for themselves.

I like the idea of a gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond or somewhere else that they can purchase new towels, sheets or kitchen items.

Yes, I think a gift card either to BBB or a nice restaurant would be a great gift!

I agree, the gift cards are a great idea. The restaurant idea is nice - they can relax after all the wedding planning, etc.

Yep, gift card. Or something family-oriented or a housewares item specially for hosting large groups/a blended family.

Okay, I took your all advice. I just got back from BBB. I bought a frame and a gift card. I put the invitation in the frame and the gift card on top of the frame. This is the frame. Pretty, right? They had a wrapping station and I can't wrap to save my life, so a lovely young lady who works there took the time to wrap it for me. It's not perfect, I think I will true up the sides a bit, but now I am done. I wrote a note on the sleeve of the gift card. Should I get a regular card also and put it on the outside of the box? What does everyone think?

I see that topic died one year ago, but i came here thanks to google... I have the same problem now, and I have few ideas: just money, maybe this gift card (as you advised here), or what about some totally crazy, original, like buying a star? Not only name a star, buy owe it? I found Kingdom of Universe shop and I'm wondering if it's good idea...

I saw the thread title "Wedding Gift Ideas" and thought it was about Chad's and Abby's wedding. HAHAHA!!!! If that were the case, I'd buy lots and lots of therapy with anyone BUT Marlena. Both and Chad and Abby could use a ton of therapy.

I took your idea for the wedding shower I'm going to. The couple are established in their home so I got a multi-picture frame that is several small frames attached. I might go back and buy one for myself. LOL

Next week have to attend my friend’s wedding. Planning to give wrist watch to the couple. Along with that will have flowers to show my love for them. Will order fresh and his favorite flowers from Floral Delivery. They give amazing flowers at decent price.
