Chapter 122 – Dinner at the Pub

After a lazy afternoon of watching movies, Chloe and Philip headed to the pub for dinner and met Will and Lucas at the door. "Hey, guys. Marlena will be here in a few minutes. She said for us to go ahead and order without her, but that seems rude," Lucas greeted them as they found a table. "So. Guess Mom's wearing out her Christmas wishes already...Sami informed us that she won't be joining us for Christmas."

"She wants to spend it with her evil baby daddy," Will added.

"Will," Lucas scolded gently.

"What? It's true. Our family is so MoPo. I mean, it's so bad, you can't even make it up."

"MoPo?" Philip asked.

"Maury Povich," Will explained. "As bad as Springer, but more contemporary. I guess. Anyway, that's what we are," Will sighed.

"I guess you could say that," Philip laughed.

"We're probably worse," Will shrugged. "Anyway, that's all for the All About Sami hour. There's Grandma," Will jumped up and ran to meet Marlena.

“He’s acting kind of…” Lucas broke off.

“Like a teenager?” Philip asked.

“More than that. I’ll talk to you about it later,” Lucas replied.

“Hi there, everyone,” Marlena smiled as Will led her to the table.

“Hi, Marlena, how are you? How’s John?” Chloe asked.

“He’s doing well. I think we’re on the verge of a breakthrough,” Marlena told her as she sat down. “You all didn’t order,” she stated.

“I thought that was rude,” Lucas said.

“Lucas. Mr. Manners,” Philip chuckled as the waitress brought menus.

About fifteen minutes later, they were all chatting happily while enjoying their food. Wonder what’s up with Will, Philip wondered. Maybe it’s time for Lucas to have “the talk”. Though with Sami as a mother, I’m sure Will’s more educated than the rest of us.

“So, I hear that Chelsea, Max and Stephanie are off to London for Christmas to visit Billie and Jack. How’s Billie doing, Philip?” Marlena asked.

“I talked to her a few days ago, she’s doing well.”

“And what are you two’s plans for Christmas?”

“Oh, we’re just staying here in town, Christmas at the Kiriakis Mansion. Should be interesting,” Chloe replied.

“Hmm. I’m sure. Brady mentioned that he’d probably spend his with…Nicole?”

“They’ve been spending time together lately,” Chloe nodded.

“And he said he’s been hired on at Titan as co-CEO,” she added.

“He has. Very happy to have him aboard,” Philip replied.

With that, they fell once again into pleasant small talk. Chloe noticed that Will seemed distant and wasn’t engaging in the conversation. He was seated beside her, so she leaned over and quietly asked, “Everything OK?”

“With me?” He answered with a start. “Sure. Totally. I guess the jet lags just kicking in,” he told her, glancing at Marlena as if she held the answers. “Sorry.”

“No worries,” Chloe replied. Hmm. Definitely something going on there. Poor Will. I’d hate to be in his shoes. I think amoeba make better mothers than Sami. Maybe I’ll try and speak to him sometime.

“I think I’m going to get myself a glass of wine,” Marlena announced. “Would anyone like anything from the bar?”

“I’ll have a glass of Pinot Noir,” Chloe smiled.

“Philip, join me?” Marlena asked.

“Certainly,” he rose and walked with Marlena to the bar.

“So, things going good?” Lucas asked Chloe as Philip and Marlena walked away.

“Better than good. Wonderful,” Chloe nodded.

Over at the bar, Marlena turned to Philip, “Jim tells me you’re doing well in therapy,” she told him.

“Jim? Oh, Dr. J. Yeah, I guess,” he replied. Great. So they do talk about us behind our backs.

“Don’t worry, Philip, we don’t go into anything specific. It’s all confidential. Just small talk,” she seemed to know what he was thinking. Must be what makes her a shrink. “I did, however, bring you away from the others for a reason. You see, I hold this therapy session once a week..”

Oh, God, here we go. “Um, Marlena, I appreciate…”

“Wait, just let me explain before you start protesting,” she cut him off. “It’s a, what I call, a blanket therapy session for people of all walks of life suffering from PTSD.”

“So not just vets.”

“Not just vets. It’s a small group, normally five people. I just thought you might be interested in knowing that there are others going through what you’re going through.”

“I’m sure there are.”

Chloe glanced over at the bar, noticing Marlena in professional mode. Oh, dear. She’s accosting him. I hope it doesn’t put him in a bad mood.

“If you’re interested, it’s Wednesday evening at seven in my office. I think you might be surprised who you’d see there,” Marlena continued.

“People I know?”

“I can’t confirm that, but I think you would see familiar faces if you came,” she responded coyly.

“You know that be telling me that, you’re going to get me to go, don’t you?” Philip asked suspiciously.

“I know your interest is piqued. I think it would be good for you,” Marlena answered as their glasses of wine arrived. “Think about it,” she smiled as they headed back to the table.

I love how you call these filler, Fifi. It was terrific. I liked how tuned in Chloe was to Philip, watching him at the bar with Marlena. Wonder what's up with Will though. Thanks for the chapter Fifi! Looking forward to Saturday!
