I sure hope that Phillip can get Chloe to listen to him. This is going to be hard for Chloe to hear but she needs to listen to everything Phillip has to say and Phillip needs to be TOTALLY HONEST with her no matter what!!

I think it's time for someone to remind Chloe that Phillip has been trying to tell her for weeks. She needs to start listening now and stop assuming the worst, but then that wouldn't make her the Chloe we know and love!

Chloe has been through so much. I hope Philip can get through to her. I hope she doesn't run away from Philip. She doesn't have anywhere to go.

Chapter 22
“Please Chloe,” Philip pleaded. “Hear me out. If not for me, then for Parker’s sake.”
Chloe looked at Philip and slowly nodded. She reluctantly went back to the booth she’d been sitting in. Philip slid in next to her in the booth instead of across from her. He didn’t want to give her the ability to run away.
“I’m sorry,” Philip said sincerely. “I made a mistake, a big one. But not because I don’t love you. You know I do.”
“Ha,” Chloe scoffed. “I used to think you did, but I was obviously wrong. It was Parker you wanted. I just happen to be his mother.”
Philip’s eyes widened. “If that’s what you think, you’re crazy. With or without Parker, you’re in my soul. You always have been. You’re everything to me, baby.” He reached for her hand, but she pulled away. “But I was messed up. After I got the test results that said I wasn’t Parker’s father, I had a meltdown. I know you wanted to help me deal with it, but I couldn’t face it. I couldn’t face you. Hell, I couldn’t even face myself. So I told you to take Parker and get out. Actually, I didn’t just tell you to take him. I drove you to Salem and left you at Daniel’s doorstep.”
Chloe crossed her arms over her chest and refused to look at Philip. Looking away from him toward the wall, she asked, “Did I ever tell you why I chose Brady over you?”
Philip’s brow knit. “What??” Philip shook his head as if he were trying to wake himself up from a bad dream. “Chloe, didn’t you hear anything I just said?”
“I did, and it’s just words. It doesn’t mean anything,” she insisted. “Well? Answer me. Did I ever tell you why I chose Brady over you?”
“Um.” Philip rubbed his brow. “I don’t know what that has to do with what’s going on between us now.”
“Oh it has plenty to do with this. Well, do you want to know or don’t you?”
“Jeez Chloe. You know what? No, I don’t ....” Hell, she was probably going to tell him anyway and since he was a glutton for punishment, he relented. “I think we’ve talked this topic to death lately, but okay fine. You want to tell me, go ahead. But I know what you’re going to say. You’re going to tell me you chose Brady because of the father figure thing, right?”
“Wrong,” she said with tears in her eyes. Finally, she turned to face Philip. “I chose Brady because he believed in me. He was solid. I knew he wouldn’t hurt me. And I knew you would. There were always girls buzzing around you in high school, vying for your attention. Even after I came back from Vienna five years later and you were nursing your wounds over losing Belle, you had a harem of girls around you. You dumped me for Morgan, who you dumped for Stephanie, who you dumped for Melanie, who you ended up cheating on.” Philip cringed as she listed the names of the women in his life. Her memory was back with a vengeance, something he’d been praying for for months. But why did she have to remember all that?
Tears choked Chloe’s words as she spoke. “You’re not the only one who worries about getting dumped. I left you for Brady because I didn’t want to be hurt by the person I loved most, the person who had the ability to hurt me the deepest.” When Philip looked at her with surprise, she said, “It’s true. I loved you more than Brady, more than Lucas, more than Daniel, but I didn’t trust you. And my instincts were right, weren’t they? You abandoned me just like I always knew you would, just like my parents did.”
Exasperated, Philip let his head drop onto the table. “Give me a break here, Chloe. Brady’s the one who screwed up your marriage. I’m the one who was there to pick up the pieces, remember?”
“Oh my god, Philip. Didn’t you hear anything I just said? Or anything I told you a few weeks ago. You know about my abandonment fears. You know I never feel like I’m good enough or worth someone’s love, and you made all my worst fears come true.”
“Yeah I heard it.” He lifted his head off the table. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry that what I did hit a nerve. I didn’t mean to hurt you, I swear. There aren’t even any words to tell you how sorry I am, Chloe. I get what you’re saying, but ... for God’s sake, Chloe, haven’t you ever made a mistake? Haven’t you ever hurt someone you love?”
She shot him a sideways glance and angrily said, “You know I have. What’s your point?”
Philip leaned his forehead into his palm. “Who knows? I can’t even remember my point anymore and I’m getting tired of going around in circles,” he said wearily. “Look. The minute I walked into this place and saw you, I knew your memory was back. I could tell. I saw that fire in your eyes that’s been missing for so long. So, since your memory is back, then you must ...” Philip’s tone softened. “You must remember how you felt when you first found out that Parker wasn’t Daniel’s? When Daniel left you.”
“What?? Why are you bringing that up now?” she wanted to know.
“Tell me,” he persisted. “Tell me what you were feeling when that happened.”
Looking off into space, Chloe nodded. “I wanted to die.” “Yes!” Philip hit the table with his palm. “And that’s exactly how I felt when I learned Parker wasn’t mine. I was completely devastated. I was a basket case, Chloe. I wanted to die too, and I was trying to decide the best way to kill myself.”
Chloe’s lips parted and he waited for her to say something, but she just looked at him. He could tell he was getting through to her, so he continued. “It was like my world crumbled, the ground beneath my feet was gone, everything I built my life on, my future on, was gone. Vanished. ... Or at least that’s how it felt. I’d been through it before with Claire, and then Tyler. But Parker ... Parker’s different. I know Parker like I know myself. I feel him in my bones. Man, I was so wrapped up in that kid, his life, his spirit, his future. He made me excited to wake up every day. ... Then, in an instant, the best part of me was snatched away through no fault of my own, you know? Losing Parker like that was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Worse than losing a leg. Worse than losing my first girlfriend, worse than losing a wife. I went dead inside, Chloe. I shut down emotionally. And I shut you out. Completely.” Philip paused to take a breath. “And that’s where I made my mistake. See, in my mind I thought deep down you were probably happy to find out that Daniel was Parker’s father. It’s what you wanted.”
“You mean, because I was married to him when Parker was conceived.”
“Exactly. I thought it was best for Parker if his parents were together. Remember when you were telling me how your childhood experiences affect you to this day? Well I’m the same way. My whole childhood, I thought my parents should be together just because they were my parents. Didn’t matter that they were a lethal combination. But you and Daniel weren’t a lethal combination. You really loved him, you didn’t choose to end things with Daniel and ....”
“And so you handed me back to him on a silver platter,” Chloe spat.

GREAT CHAPTER! Yes, Chloe, Phillip handed you to Daniel on a silver platter so YOU could have what you always wanted. Two loving parents raising their child TOGETHER! That is what love is...doing whatever it takes to make the person you LOVE happy!!
