Please don't make us wait till Monday for the next chapter. Loved Craig and Chloe's conversation. Yes, please! At least some spoilers or something....I'm scoring essays from yesterday through next Wednesday and need to read GOOD writing! Ooh thanks so much for staying interested. And thank you all for reading and commenting. I wrote that Broe conversation that I promised you. Tune in on Saturday to read it. I'll see what I can do about posting previews for next week on Sunday, or maybe something more.

Author's Note: This newly written scene occurred when Brady arrived, after Nancy called him to come visit Chloe. Had I written it sooner, it would have been posted last Monday, before the chapter where Philip returned from Chicago.
Bonus Chapter
Chloe didn’t expect to feel this nervous, this emotional, but she had serious butterflies in her stomach when the doorbell rang, knowing Brady was on the other side.
When he walked through the door and she saw Brady in person, standing here in her living room, the nervousness abated. Instead, she burst out in tears. Brady immediately took her in his arms. “Hey, it’s okay, diva, it’s okay.”
Chloe leaned away. “I’m sorry,” she said, feeling ashamed. “I don’t even know where that came from. I’m not a crier.”
“Hey,” Brady said, touching her chin. “You don’t have to be embarrassed, not around me. We’ve seen far worse.”
“Ahem.” Nancy decided to remind them both that she was still in the room. “I think I’ll give you two a chance to catch up. How about I make us some popcorn and we can watch Sound of Music. Perfect movie for a Saturday night date, just like old times! It’s all queued up in the DVD player. Just hit the power button.” Nancy disappeared into the kitchen.
Chloe rolled her eyes. “Not too subtle, is she?”
“Same as ever,” Brady said taking Chloe’s hand as he sat down on the sofa.
Chloe sat down beside him. “She’s right about one thing though. I do feel like we need to catch up. ... You know about my memory loss, right? Philip told me that you helped rescue me from The Oaks.”
Still holding her hand, he said, “You’ve been through hell. Tell me, what can I do? Whatever you need, just ask me.”
Chloe was quiet for a few minutes as she remembered her last memory of being with Brady. “The last time I saw you, we were at Damel Cafe in Vienna. You were having...”
“Black Forrest Cake,” Brady laughed. “And you were having a Sacher torte.”
“My favorite Viennese dessert,” Chloe added.
“Loved that restaurant,” he said. “Best desserts on the Continent.”
“We ate there all the time,” she said wistfully.
“I almost forgot about that place,” Brady said, looking off into space for a moment.
“Ironic. I’ve forgotten everything but that,” Chloe remarked.
Brady looked at Chloe for a minute as if he was contemplating what to say. “You know that really isn’t the last time we saw each other. We’ve seen each other lots of times since I returned to the states.”
“Even though we’re divorced?”
“I still care about you, Chloe. I’ll always care.”
“Then why?” she asked sadly. “If we still care about each other, why are we divorced?”
Brady clasped Chloe’s hand between both of his. “Because I screwed up. I started doing drugs.”
“You?” This came as a shock to Chloe. There was nothing in Brady’s character that suggested drug abuse or addiction. “That ... doesn’t ... sound like you.”
“Drugs are a lot easier to come by across the pond. Europeans have a much more relaxed attitude about it, and well, at first it was just for kicks, just for something to do. Then bam, I was hooked before I knew what was happening. Kind of like the first time I laid eyes on you.”
Chloe looked at Brady skeptically. “This is so hard for me to imagine. Did I ... Did I do drugs too?”
“No, despite my trying to get you interested. … I don’t know, Chloe. I guess I was bored, not challenged enough, something. Getting high gave me a thrill that was missing when I was sober.”
Chloe felt the tears sting her eyes again. “So that must mean that you lost interest in me, in us.”
“Now wait, don’t do this. Don’t do this to yourself. This had nothing to do with you. It’s me. I’m weak. I have no will power, no self-control.”
“Brady, don’t talk about yourself that way. I won’t stand for it,” she insisted. “The Brady I knew was strong and caring and supportive. You were always pushing me to improve myself, you never let me rest on my laurels. You made me a better person. I always said you were the wind beneath my wings, remember?”
“That’s because you were the one with all the talent, all the potential.”
“Yeah right, that’s me, the big star,” she said sarcastically. Then, with sadness, she asked, “Brady, you had so much going for you too. Why couldn’t I have helped you? Did I try?”
“At first, yes, but I pushed you away in no uncertain terms. I was really a monster. And after a while, there was nothing left.”
“Of our marriage?” Chloe asked. Brady nodded. “So did I just up and leave you?”
Brady shook his head no. “Granddad kidnapped me to rehab. That’s when you left and came back to Salem.” Brady touched Chloe’s chin. “You are not to blame and I won’t let you feel guilty about this, Chloe. It’s all on me.”
Chloe choked back tears. It was so hard to believe that their marriage had disintegrated and there was nothing left of it. They were so close once, so in sync. “So, did you ever remarry?”
“No,” he sighed. “I came close a few times, but the truth is, I’m no good for any woman. I still struggle with addiction.”
“Oh Brady.” Chloe touched Brady’s arm. “Are you in a program or anything?”
“Listen, let’s not talk about this anymore. Your mother called me because she thought you needed some cheering up. So...” Brady looked around the living room. “Where’s Philip? I thought he was in charge of cheering you up.”
“He had to go out of town.”
“Aaannd, does that make you sad?”
Chloe shrugged. “A little I guess," She didn't want to admit to Brady that she had a kind of addiction too and his name was Philip. "I’ve sort of gotten used to having him around.”
“Well, stick with Phil, Chloe. He won’t steer you wrong.”
“That’s not what my parents say.”
“Yeah well, Philip has a tendency to be a screw-up sometimes, but hey, who am I to talk?” Brady picked up the remote control from the coffee table. “Nancy said the movie’s all queued up. Ready to climb every mountain?”

I'm glad to see Brady being a friend to Chloe. It was nice to see him encouraging her relationship with Philip. Nancy wouldn't like that. Thanks for the bonus chapter Kpatch.

Thanks guys! I'm so happy you enjoyed the bonus chapter. Thank you to those of you who suggested/asked for it. Well that's interesting. Chloe knows she and Brady are divorced. I wonder what he told her about that before they jumped right into watching The Sound of Music. Today, I posted a scene that revealed the conversation and explained why they were watching Sound of Music. Hope you'll check it out.

I promised you some previews today. Here you go.
Previews for the week of 6/16
Nancy tells Philip something that surprises him.
Date night!
Where do you think Philip takes Chloe on their date? Take a guess.
Chloe asks Philip some serious questions. Will he be honest with her?
======
And here’s some random dialogue from the week ahead. Can you guess who says what?
“Could you email that to me?”
“Wet and wild?”
“This was a bad idea.”
“Apparently I’m making Chloe anxious.”
“Did we ever do it?”
“Feels like we’re trick or treating.”

Chapter 26
7:03. Philip checked his wristwatch as he waited in the living room for Chloe. Nancy gave him Chloe’s message to be ready at 7:00 sharp. That was so Chloe. She would tell him what time to be ready and she’d typically be 20 minutes late. Tonight, he didn’t mind waiting if he had to. Everything was all set for the evening. He had stopped by the hospital earlier to see Parker, and the boy was doing better every day. So that meant Philip could relax a little tonight ... although he had to admit he was nervous. He felt like a teenager going on his first date with a girl he really liked. His palms were sweaty and he had butterflies in his stomach. He kept hoping he looked alright.
“Philip.” Philip was so lost in his thoughts that he nearly jumped out of his skin when Nancy touched his arm. “I told Chloe this earlier,” she said, “but I want to tell you too. I’m leaving tonight.”
“Leaving?” Philip was glad to hear that, but he was puzzled.
“That’s right. Apparently um ... I’m making Chloe anxious and that’s not good for her condition. So, um, I’ll be going back to New York. Craig reassured me that Chloe’s in good hands for now. I don’t want to get in the way.”
Philip almost laughed in her face. She doesn’t want to get in the way? Since when? What do you call it when someone blocks your entrance to the house? She was already in the way, he thought to himself. But he nodded slowly, trying to hide his glee.
“Craig’s going to take me to see Parker at the hospital this evening after you and Chloe leave the house,” she continued. “Then we’re going to visit my elderly Aunt Ida in Brookville where we’ll spend the night. In the morning, Craig’s going to drive me to the airport and then he’ll come back home. So I’m counting on you to take good care of Chloe until Craig gets back.”
It sounded to Philip as if Nancy’s little going away speech had been rehearsed. He was sure that Craig leaned on her to be civil to him. Still, as a parent himself, Philip realized that it had to be hard for her, knowing that her presence was a detriment to her daughter’s health. He actually had a little empathy for her because he knew exactly how it would feel to find out he couldn’t be around Parker. “Of course,” Philip said. “She’ll be fine, Nancy. Don’t worry.”
Nancy nodded. Then she looked toward the staircase and saw Chloe standing on the top step. “Oh honey!”
Philip turned around and his breath caught. The room melted away and he was 16 again, looking at the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen for the very first time in his life, except she looked way sexier than she did at 16. The red dress fit her like a glove, it hugged her in all the right places. The low neckline accentuated her assets and the above knee length showed off her shapely legs. The tape measure didn’t lie. She was a perfect 36-24-36.
Her hair flowed over her shoulders in waves and her eyes -- those big blue eyes drew him in. Her voluptuous lips curved into a broad smile when Philip smiled at her.
When she reached the bottom of the staircase, she asked, “Ready?”
“And how,” he enthused.
Chloe turned to Nancy. “Bye Mom.” She gave her mother a big hug. “Thank you for coming to see me.”
Nancy’s eyes filled with tears. “You just get well, honey. I’ll call you okay? And I’ll come again soon,” Nancy sniffled. “Oh wait. Let me take a picture of the two of you.” She picked up her cell phone and tapped the camera app.
Philip put his arm around Chloe and she leaned closer to him.
“Got it.”
“Could you email that to me, Nancy?” Philip asked.
“Here. Put in your email address.” Nancy handed him the phone.
“Thank you.” Then he picked up a long black cloak and held it up for Chloe.
She looked at him quizzically. “What’s that?”
“It’s a cloak. Remember? I got cloaks for both of us so we can go out without being recognized.”
Chloe slipped her arms into the sleeves as Philip held the cloak for her. Then he put on his own.
Chloe giggled. “Feels like we’re trick or treating or something.”

Aw.... See??? Nancy can be good! She just needs some...prodding...by Craig. And good for Craig for making her see the light and sending her home. Much as I like the two of them together (did you know that I like them?), Nancy could definitely put Chloe on edge.

I liked Philip trying to hide his glee about Nancy leaving.
I'm looking forward to their date. The cloak reminds me of Chloe wearing a black cloak to the first Last Blast dance.
