Chapter 39

WILL & SONNY'S HOUSE

Earlier

Will opened the door to find Percy.
PERCY: Greetings!
WILL: What are you doing here?
PERCY: Well, I just wanted to make sure that you weren't planning on saying anything about our little secret.
WILL: What do you mean?
PERCY: I thought about what I said earlier, and I realized that you do in fact have proof of what I did, and I was wrong to threaten you.
WILL: That's nice...but I still don't know what you're talking about.
PERCY: Your accusations against me earlier. The ones about doing something to Mr. Fa...I mean, Mr. Kiriakis.
WILL: What was that?
PERCY: What was what?
WILL: That hesitation, what was that?
PERCY: Nothing. Nothing at all. A momentary slip. Nothing to concern yourself with.
Will's phone rang. He picked it up, and signaled for Percy to stay put.
WILL: Will Horton.
Pause,
WILL: Hey, everything okay?
Pause.
WILL: Is it serious?
Pause.
WILL: Okay. I'll be there in a bit. Bye.
Will hung up his phone and went to the kitchen. Percy made a quick getaway
WILL: Hey, we gotta go.
SONNY: Go? Where?
WILL: The jailhouse. Jeannie just called. She says she has something serious to talk to us about.
SONNY: You gonna be okay?
ARI: Sure. But, um, who was that guy at the door?
WILL: That was...what was his name?
SONNY: Percy something, I think. Most people just call him Mr. Greetings.
ARI: He looks familiar.
WILL: I can't imagine you ever would have met him. He hasn't been in Salem for years.

MOUNTAIN - FLASHBACK
Gabi had a lit match in her hand. Percy saw her.
PERCY: No! Don't!
Gabi jumped in fear and dropped the match. He ran over, but as he is an older gentleman, he couldn't get there fast enough.

WILL & SONNY'S HOUSE
ARI: Yeah. I guess he's just got one of those faces. Anyway, good luck. Say hi to Jeannie for me.
WILL: Okay. We'll be back soon. love you.
ARI: Love you.
Ari kissed Will on the cheek and hugged Sonny. Then, the two men left.

Chapter 40

BRADY PUB
Sydney and Ceri sat in one of the booths. Sydney held two babies, while Ceri held one.
CERI: It's hard to believe Chelsea and Max's girls are a year old already.
SYDNEY: I know. It seems like just yesterday they announced the birth.
CERI: They're getting big. Either that, or it's just been a while since we've seen them.
SYDNEY: Could be both.
CERI: I think Holi's the biggest.
She nodded at the baby she was holding.
SYDNEY: Actually, that's Mela and she is biggest. She's also oldest. Georgia, the one on the right, is youngest.
CERI: I thought Holi was the one on the right.
SYDNEY: No, she's on the left.
Chelsea walked in.
CHELSEA: That's right.
CERI: I'm confused.
CHELSEA: It's okay. They're identical. It happens a lot. When they were newborns, Max and I had to put a different color bow in each one's hair to tell them apart. Hand me the one on your right, please, Sydney.
Chelsea took the baby from Sydney's right arm.
CHELSEA: Hello there, Georgia Hope. Were you and your sisters good for Sydney and Ceri?
SYDNEY: They were perfect.
CHELSEA: Thank you so much for taking them this morning.
CERI: No problem. Any time you need, just give us a call.
Max walked in.
MAX: Thanks. I'll take that one, Ceri.
Ceri handed Max the baby she was holding.
MAX: Well, hello there my beautiful Melanie Caroline. Sydney, if you guys need to go, you can put Holiday Billie in her crib.
SYDNEY: Okay. Are you sure there's nothing else you need before we go?
CHELSEA: Now, we're fine.
MAX: Thanks again for this.
CERI: You're welcome.
SYDNEY: See you later.
CHELSEA & MAX: Bye.

SALEM COUNTY JAIL
WILL: Okay, have I stepped into some kind of nightmare from 15 years ago?
NICK: No idea what you mean.
WILL: How can you possibly be here? And why?
NICK: As your daughter. She knows.
WILL: What does Arianna have to do with any of this?
NICK: She's the closest thing I can get to Gabi. Ask her why. Or, better yet, ask Percy, my assistant. He'll understand it more than she will.
WILL: I'll be right back. Excuse me.
Will walked away.
SONNY: Why Philip?
NICK: Pardon?
SONNY: Of all the people you could impersonate, why Philip?
NICK: Needed a convincing disguise.
SONNY: Well, you can take off the disguise now.
NICK: Sorry, but I'm afraid that that's not possible.
SONNY: Why not?
Just then, Will walked in with Percy in handcuffs.
NICK: Percy, so glad you could join us.
PERCY: Please, unhand me, sir. I've no idea why Mr. Kiriakis...
NICK: Percy, they know.
PERCY: Oh. Well, then I've no idea why Mr. Fallon would say that I would know anything about this whole matter.
JEANNIE: You know, if you don't answer our questions, you could share a cell with Mr. Fallon.
PERCY: And what would the charges be?
JEANNIE: Refusal to cooperate with the authorities.
WILL: I could also have you charged with running from authorities.
NICK: What?
WILL: Oh, did you guys not know that I'm a cop? Silly me, I must have forgotten to mention it.
NICK: It's okay, Percy. Go ahead and tell them.
PERCY: Oh, all right. I shall tell you everything that I know, but no more.

I have a suspicion as to what happened. Looking forward to hearing Percy's story.

Billie was named after Billie Holiday if I remember correctly.

Chapter 41

SALEM PLACE
Sydney and Ceri were walking around Salem Place.
CERI: Those girls are so cute.
SYDNEY: I know. They're adorable.
CERI: How did they get their names? I've always wondered that. I mean, I get that Mel is named after my aunt, Max's sister. But, what about the others?
SYDNEY: Mel is also named after my Grandma Caroline. Holi is named after Chelsea's mom, Billie.
CERI: How so?
SYDNEY: Billie was named after Billie Holiday. Her full name is Billie Holiday Reed. Reverse the first and middle names, and you get Holi's name.
CERI: Makes sense. Sydney: What about Georgia?
SYDNEY: She's named after Aunt Hope, since that's her middle name. She was also named after Chelsea.
CERI: How d'you mean?
SYDNEY: When Chelsea was first born, her name was Georgia.
CERI: So, why did her parents change her name?
SYDNEY: They didn't. Well, her real parents didn't. Billie and Uncle Bo thought Chelsea died when she was born, but she didn't. My grandfather made it look that way. She was really given to a different family, who changed her name from Georgia to Chelsea.
CERI: Okay. I think I get it.

SALEM JAIL
JEANNIE: Well, go on, then.
PERCY: Okay. It started about five years ago. Miss Hernandez had just gotten out of jail for killing Mr. Fallon. She got out when it became clear that Mr. Fallon wasn't dead...

SALEM PLACE - FLASHBACK
A flashback to five years ago. Gabi was walking through Salem Place, when Nick grabbed her by the arm.
GABI: Hey! What the hell are you doing?! Let go of me!
Nick dragged Gabi to one side. Gabi slapped him.
GABI: Don't ever touch me again!
NICK: Or what? You gonna try to murder me again?
GABI: Don't tempt me.
NICK: Is...is that a threat? Do I detect a threat in that sentence?
GABI: You have made my life a living hell! I had to sit in a jail cell for ten years because of you.
NICK: Well, if you had just let me have my way, you wouldn't have had to go through all that.
GABI: Well, I see being dead hasn't changed you.
NICK: And prison time hasn't changed you. You are still as beautiful as ever.
Nick put a hand out to stroke Gabi's hair. Gabi slapped it away.
GABI: No!
NICK: Why not?
GABI: Because, it would never work. We can never be together, Nick. Never.
Nick forced a grin, and chuckled. He then put his mouth next to Gabi's ear.
NICK (whispering): Then enjoy your life here.
GABI: What?
NICK (whispering): If I can't have you, no one will. I'm gonna make your life a living hell. I promise you that.

SALEM JAIL
PERCY: So, he spent the next four years doing just that.
WILL: Yeah, we know all that. But, what happened nearly a year and a half ago? When Gabi started quoting Pulp Fiction, and making other strange threatening pop culture references.
PERCY: You mean she didn't tell you?
SONNY: Tell us what?
PERCY: About the incident.

Looking forward to finding out more. Looks like Nick may have driven Gabi to a desperate act.

Chapter 42

SALEM JAIL
WILL: Why did we not see it before?
SONNY: We thought that it was from the jail time.
WILL: Yeah, but she'd been out for three years, and been perfectly fine.
PERCY: So, she did tell you...about the incident.
WILL: It wasn't an incident, it was rape. Pure and simple.
NICK: Hey, it was not rape.
SONNY: What do you call it? Because in every sense of the law, it was rape.
NICK: Okay, yeah, it was.
JEANNIE: You disgust me, you know that?
WILL: A feeling shared by myself and Sonny.
NICK: I'd rather be hated than pitied, which is what I was when I first came to Salem.
WILL: Let's continue the story from here. Mr. Ruggles, if you will.
PERCY: Yes, well, um, after the...the incident, Miss Hernandez went to the police, but did not tell them who it was that raped them. They started their investigation, but Miss Hernandez could not wait that long. She called Mr. Fallon up to the mountains one evening. I came along, for protection purposes..,

MOUNTAINS - FLASHBACK
Gabi stood near the ledge of a mountain. Nick and Percy walked up.
NICK: So, you wanted to see me.
GABI: I see you brought your little pet with you.
PERCY: Greetings!
GABI: Shut up.
Unknown to Nick or Percy, Gabi had a heavy rock in her hand.
GABI: Come here, Nick. I have something to tell you. Something I don't want your sycophantic assistant to hear.
Nick walked up to Gabi. She put her mouth to Nick's ear.
GABI (whispering): Good night.
NICK: What?
Gabi brought the rock down on Nick's head, knocking him out.
PERCY: What have you...
Gabi lifted the rock.
GABI: Unless you want to end up like your friend here, shut up and do as I say.

SALEM JAIL
PERCY: She had me tie Mr. Fallon up and gag him. She the. poured oil over his whole body, and had me wake him up.
WILL: You made no attempt to stop her?
PERCY: No. I feared for my life. I figured that, in the moment, she was more dangerous than Mr. Fallon.
JEANNIE: So, what happened then?

MOUNTAINS - FLASHBACK
Nick is struggling on the ground.
GABI: Oh, what's the matter, baby? You don't like it when you're helpless? When you don't have total control over the situation?
Nick continued to struggle.
GABI: Well, tough. You put me in that position. Now, it's time for payback.
Gabi got out a match.
GABI: You remember that old song by Adele? Not the super popular one, but the one about setting fire to the rain? Have you ever wondered what it looks like? When you set it on fire? I have. Well, we're gonna find out together. After everything you've done for me, it's the least I can do.
Nick continued to struggle.
GABI: Oh, don't be like that. You know exactly what you did. I have to do this. I just have to.
Gabi lit the match.
GABI: And now, to teach you a lesson, I'm gonna set fire to the rain.
Gabi's hand trembled slightly.
GABI: Too late to back out now.
PERCY: No! Don't!
Gabi jumped in surprise and dropped the match. The flame caught her dress, and she was soon on fire. By the time Percy got near enough, both Nick and Gabi were dead.

An ironic twist that Gabi seeking revenge on Nick resulted in her own death.

Okay I am totally confused... if Gabi and Nick were both dead, how is it possible for him to be alive now... okay I know, Nick wasn't really dead, just burned very very badly so he had plastic surgery to look like Phillip!

Chapter. 43

BRADY PUB
Shawn-D, Belle and Claire were sitting in a booth.
CLAIRE: So...Uncle Philip's alive?
SHAWN-D: It looks that way, yeah.
CLAIRE: How is that even possible?
BELLE: No idea.
CLAIRE: Have you guys seen him yet?
SHAWN-D: Not yet. We're going to today. Do you wanna come with?
CLAIRE: I don't know. I mean, I want to see Uncle Philip, but, I'm not sure if I want to see him behind bars.
BELLE: Well, if you want to come, you can, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
SHAWN-D: Just take some time to think about it.
CLAIRE: Okay.

SALEM JAIL
WILL: Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean they were both dead? Obviously Nick wasn't.
PERCY: True. I thought he was, though. Then, I went over and checked. It turns out, of course, that he wasn't.
NICK: It was a close thing, though.
PERCY: Well, after that, I took Mr. Fallon to a hospital and had plastic surgeries done.
JEANNIE: Why Philip Kiriakis' face?
NICK: Easiest way back in and get the power I deserve. Everyone loves Philip, especially those people on those message boards. I take Philip's face, say that I didn't really die, take over Titan from Brady, then have money and power. Perfect crime.
SONNY: That's what Ari's been dreaming about. She was there.
WILL: I recall. She told us about it. She snuck out to see where Gabi was going, but ran before Percy saved Nick.
NICK: How is Ari?
WILL: Fine. Not that you'll ever see her again.
NICK: Oh, won't I? Don't forget, Officer Theresa here arrested me when you all still thought I was Philip Kiriakis. Since you have D.N.A. tests proving I'm not, you can't keep me here.
Will looked at Jeannie.
JEANNIE: He's got a point.
Jeannie opened the cell. Nick walked out.
NICK: See ya.
WILL: One sec. Let me see your hands.
NICK: Why?
WILL: Just let me see them.
Nick held out his hands, which Will slapped handcuffs on.
WILL: Nicholas Fallon, you are under arrest for two counts of fraud, one count of resisting arrest, stealing a man's identity and mouthing off to two officers. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be given to you. If you choose not to wait for an attorney to begin questioning, you have the right to stop speaking at any time until such time as your attorney arrives. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?
Nick sighed and rolled his eyes.
WILL: I'll take that as a yes.
JEANNIE: Oh, look Officer Horton, there's a cell right here.
WILL: Convenient, isn't it?
Will uncuffed Nick, threw him in the cell, and slammed the door shut. Then, he and Jeannie high-fived.

I don't know how Nick will be able to get out of any of these charges.

Chapter 44

SAMI & LUCAS' HOUSE - SYDNEY'S BEDROOM
Sydney and Ceri were sitting on Sydney's bed.
SYDNEY: What about Salem U?
CERI: That might not be so bad.
SYDNEY: Allie went their for a year before starting school up in Wisconsin.
CERI: Cool. Can we go see it?
SYDNEY: Sure. It's always open, so we can go see it anytime.
CERI: Let's.
The two stood up, kissed, and walked out.

SALEM JAIL
Will opened the jail cell, threw Nick in, and slammed the cell shut.
WILL: Oh, look. We can put you away for those crimes, plus a few more.
NICK: But, you don't have any proof.
WILL: Don't we? Agent Donovan, did we forget to get proof?
JEANNIE: Hm, good question, Officer Horton.
Jeannie dug into a pocket.
JEANNIE: Why, as it happens, we do. In fact, we have the whole conversation, starting from when I brought Nick in, on tape.
Jeannie pressed play. We hear the sound of Nick being thrown in prison. Nick began laughing.
JEANNIE (over tape): Something funny, Kiriakis?
NICK (over tape): Well, I just realized that, with your track record, it's surprising that you were even considered for a job as a cop. And you can hardly point the finger at me with everything you've done.
JEANNIE (over tape): What are you talking about?
NICK (over tape) Oh, I know all about you, Theresa Donovan. And if this goes to trial, I intend to expose all your dirty little secrets to everybody. And you'll never be able to be a cop again. In fact, you'll hardly be able to get a job at all. And of course, I can make sure that you don't. Because I have that power. In this world, the man with the most knowledge and power is king. And honey, you should see me in a crown.
Jeannie pressed a button.
JEANNIE: I could keep this going all day, or I could play the highlights. Whichever you want.
WILL: Oh, if I may, I say we add extortion and rape to his list of crimes.
JEANNIE: Excellent idea.
WILL: Well, I believe our business here is done.
JEANNIE: Thanks for everything, Officer Horton.
WILL: No problem, Agent Donovan.
Will and Jeannie high-fived. Will and Sonny walked out.

OUTSIDE THE JAIL
Will and Sonny walked out. It was raining.
WILL: Was there rain in the forecast this morning?
SONNY: Don't know. I didn't check.
WILL: Should have a spare umbrella in the jail. I'll be right back.
After a moment, Will came back with an umbrella. It was now raining harder. Sonny and Will took each other's hand and ran to the car.
