RAFE: When can I see them?
GARY: I’ll contact her and let you know. I have your number.
RAFE: I don’t know how to thank you.
GARY: Hey, what are friends for? (They shake hands and Gary leaves)
CARRIE: (Turns in the booth to look at Rafe) What are you going to do?
RAFE: (Staring at his hands) I don’t know.
CARRIE: What do you mean you don’t know? Obviously, you have to go see her.
RAFE: That’s just it. I’m happy to hear that she’s alive, but honestly, I don’t feel the way I always thought I would feel.
CARRIE: How do you feel?
RAFE: Indifferent.
CARRIE: Indifferent? How can you feel indifferent?
RAFE: I don’t know. I’m thrilled to know that I have a son. (To himself) I have a son. (To Carrie) And I want to see him desperately. But I don’t feel this burning desire to see Emily.
CARRIE: Why not?
RAFE: I don’t know. She and I were happy a long time ago. But then she was dead, or at least I thought she was. I mourned her, but I had to move on. I packed away those feelings and shut down that part of my heart. Don’t get me wrong, I’m relieved to know she’s alive, and I really want to meet my son, but that’s where it ends. (Grabs Carrie’s hands) I don’t love her anymore. I don’t ache for her. I ache for you.
CARRIE: For me?
RAFE: Yes, for you.
CARRIE: (Pulls hands away) What about Sami?
RAFE: (Sighs) Sami.
CARRIE: Yes, Sami. You remember her? Your wife?
RAFE: Of course. But I can’t help how I feel about you. And I know you feel the same.
CARRIE: I may have feelings for you, but they’ll go away. Besides, you don’t really “ache” for me. You only want me because you can’t have me.
RAFE: (Smiles) Can’t have you?
CARRIE: Right, can’t have me. I’m still married, and so are you. No matter what we may feel for each other, we are still married to other people.
RAFE: (Reaches up to touch her face) I know you aren’t happy. I can make you happy.
CARRIE: (Pulls his hand down) Stop. (Gets out of the booth) I’m not doing this. I’m going back to the hotel. Don’t follow me.

Oh wow. I love that Rafe told Carrie "I ache for you." He is being so up-front about it. This is great. Can't wait for more. Seriously.

Ooohhh....I wonder if Rafe is going to follow Carrie anyway back to the hotel and they'll argue for a bit trying to fight their feelings and then fall madly and passionately to the bed and just ravage each other?! ;D Can't wait to find out!!

HOTEL IN CHICAGO

Carrie rides the train, alone, back to their hotel. She goes to their room to pack up her things. She calls down to room service to order up some dinner.

CARRIE: Yes. That’s a Caeser Salad and a bottle of water. Thank you. (Hangs up phone)

Five minutes later there is a knock on the door. Carrie opens the door to see Rafe standing there.

CARRIE: (Surprised) What are you doing here? (Turns away, angry) I told you not to follow me.
RAFE: (Comes inside, closes the door) There’s no way I’m letting you leave town without me.
CARRIE: Well, too bad mister. That’s not your call to make.
RAFE: The hell it is.
CARRIE: (Turns to him, angry tears in her eyes) Don’t you talk to me like that. I’m not your wife, remember?
RAFE: (Grabs her by the shoulders) I’ll talk to you how I please.
CARRIE: (Pushes his hands away) No you won’t.
RAFE: (Grabs her shoulders again) Fine. Then I’ll stop talking.

He roughly, but not too roughly, pulls her towards him. Her hands are in fists, trapped against his chest. His mouth slams down on hers. While she is resistant at first, she melts all too quickly. Her arms snake around his neck as he releases his hold on her shoulders. He wraps his arms around her waist and holds her close against him. The kiss deepens. His tongue darts between her open lips and she kisses him back fully. The anger they were feeling moments before has morphed into a fiery hot passion that cannot be quenched. The desperation to fulfill their desire takes over. Carrie frantically grabs at Rafe’s shirt and rips it open while Rafe pulls Carrie’s dress up over her head, revealing a sexy lace thong and bra. Rafe dispatches his pants quickly. They stare at each other’s near naked bodies for a moment. Both are in awe of the other. He effortlessly picks her up under her thighs and she wraps her legs around him. He kisses her neck as Carrie lets her head fall back in ecstasy.

He maneuvers them towards the bed and tosses her back on it. Rafe brushes the hair out of her eyes and positions himself over her. Every thought has left their minds as they focus solely on each other. Carrie reaches up and runs her hands across Rafe’s chest. She is awed by his incredible physique and bites her lip with desire. In an unexpected move, Rafe rolls them so Carrie is straddling him. She laughs in delight. Rafe’s eyes grow dark at the vision of Carrie on top of him. She removes her bra to let her ample breasts fall free. He is almost unable to fathom such beauty. She leans down to brush her nipples against his chest and she sighs at his husky moan. She teases him by nipping at his lower lip, and traces kisses down his neck and chest. She begins her own oral exploration lower and lower and eventually makes her way towards his now exposed manhood. Rafe whimpers and fists his hands in Carrie’s hair. Weak with desire and unable to wait any longer, Rafe rips off her thong, grabs her hips and lifts her so he can sheath himself in her. Carrie arches her back and welcomes him greedily. They move slowly, at first, but soon they are overcome with their need to reach fulfillment. Rafe rolls her onto her back and drives home the awesome force that has built inside him. Carrie is shocked at the power of the orgasm that rips through her. In all of her life, it has never felt this amazing. Rafe, too, is surprised at his own intense pleasure. He knows it is because of the woman underneath him. As he rolls to her side, he kisses her gently. They fall asleep in each other’s arms.

THE NEXT MORNING

Carrie stirs and wakes to find Rafe’s arm draped across her stomach. He is sound asleep. She smiles at him and softly touches his cheek. All in a moment the gravity of her situation hits her.

CARRIE: (Horrified) Oh god. What have I done?

She gently moves his arm, as to not wake him, and slips out of bed. She jumps into a chair by the bed and stares back at the gorgeous, sleeping man in the bed; her sister’s husband; the man she has just slept with. She hangs her head and runs her fingers through her hair.

CARRIE: No no no no no no no. This didn’t happen. It can’t have happened. I have to get out of here.

She gathers her things, dresses quickly, and jots down a note. Before Rafe wakes, she slips out the door and leaves.

AN HOUR LATER

RAFE: (Sleepily) Mmmm, Carrie?
He notices she isn’t in bed. He stretches lazily, assuming that she is in the other room getting dressed.
RAFE: (Calls out) Please tell me there’s coffee in there.
When he doesn’t get an answer, he calls out again.
RAFE: Carrie?
When she still doesn’t answer, Rafe climbs out of bed. He walks, naked, into the other room. All of Carrie’s things are gone. He sees the note on the table. It reads:

I can’t do this. I’m sorry.

RAFE: (Shoves his hand through his hair) Dammit! (At that moment, his cell phone rings. He answers it angrily) Hello?
SAMI: Rafe?
RAFE: (Annoyed, but trying to hide it) Sami! What’s up sweetheart?
SAMI: I was hoping to hear from you last night, but you didn’t call so I got worried. Is everything ok?
RAFE: (Still holding Carrie’s note) Yeah, it’s fine. I got a little busy last night, is all, and then I fell asleep. No big deal.
SAMI: Are you coming home soon?
RAFE: Yeah. I’ve got to finish up some stuff here, but I should be home in a bit.
SAMI: Ok. Good. I’ll see you when you get here. Bye!
RAFE: Bye. (Hangs up. Immediately it starts ringing again) Yes?
GARY: Hey man! It’s Gary.
RAFE: Oh, hey man. What’s up?
GARY: Two things. First, I was wondering about that smoking hot partner you’ve got. Is she seeing anyone?
RAFE: (With a hint of sadness in his voice) She’s married.
GARY: Oh. That’s too bad.
RAFE: Tell me about it. What’s the second thing?
GARY: I talked to Emily. She wants to see you.
