Great story DD!! I like the progression so far. See, this sorta thing would be MUCH more believable than stripping down because of a broken thermostat, like someone else said. But then again, fanfic is usually more interesting than the real show!

Exactly, as fan fic always have a much bigger budget! ;D

Loving this so far!! Especially as so few fan fics include Rafe.

Thanks, fluffysmom! I really enjoy the fanfic. DD's Carrie & Rafe story is so believable and nicely written.....too bad she isn't writing for Days! We would be able to really enjoy the show once again!

After class, Carrie and Rafe drive back to the office in uncomfortable silence. They know where Martin is spending his evenings and they promised Miss Mille they’d be back for another class, but neither really knows what to say to the other. They part ways at the office and once they each get home, they find spouses that are less than thrilled with their new assignment.

RAFE AND SAMI’S LOFT

SAMI: (angrily) What do you mean you were out dancing with Carrie?
RAFE: It wasn’t like that. We were investigating this guy and that’s where he went.
SAMI: I don’t care what you were doing. Why are you spending so much time with my sister?
RAFE: We work together, remember? (rubs Sami’s shoulders) Sami, you’ve got to calm down. Nothing is going on.
SAMI: (pushes his hands off her shoulders) Calm down? CALM DOWN?!? My HUSBAND has just confessed to spending the evening dancing with my SISTER!
RAFE: (getting frustrated) Listen. We were working. It wasn’t like we were doing something wrong. Why aren’t you listening to me?
SAMI: I’m not listening to you? I’m sorry. Please tell me again about the part of your “work” that had you holding my sister in your arms for hours. Please tell me again about how it was all a “cover” and that you aren’t attracted to her at all. Oh yes. I’d like to hear those parts again.
RAFE: (fully angry now) Now wait a minute. I’m married to you, remember? I’m not interested in her. Why would you accuse me of that?
SAMI: Well, she’s stolen my man so many times I’ve lost count.
RAFE: Why do you think she’s trying to “steal” me? Do you think I’m developing feelings for her?
SAMI: WHAT?!?
RAFE: Or are you just looking for a reason to be mad at me? (pauses for a beat ) That’s it, isn’t it? This isn’t about me and Carrie at all. This is about something else entirely.
SAMI: (looks away, somewhat quieter) That’s ridiculous. What else could this be about?
RAFE: You tell me. Sure seems like you’ve got a burr in your butt about something.
SAMI: I don’t know what you could be talking about. (turns back to him, suddenly apologetic) Listen, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have gone off on you like that. Let’s just forget the whole thing and go make up.
RAFE: (quieter now too) I’d like that. Lead the way Mrs. Hernandez.

AUSTIN AND CARRIE’S HOTEL ROOM

Carrie is pacing the room, a bundle of nerves. Austin is doing some work on his computer.

CARRIE: Austin, I’m telling you this dance studio was something else.
AUSTIN: (distracted) Mmm-hmmm.
CARRIE: The music was beautiful and the dancing was so much fun.
AUSTIN: (barely listening) Yeah?
CARRIE: We should try it sometime.
AUSTIN: Ok.
CARRIE: Really?
AUSTIN: Sure. (finally looks up from his computer) I’m sorry, honey. What were you saying?
CARRIE: (realizes he wasn’t listening) Nevermind.
Dejectedly, Carrie goes off to shower and prepare for bed. Austin turns off the lights, crawls into bed, and is asleep before she gets out of the shower.
CARRIE: (sadly) Goodnight to you too.

RAFE AND SAMI’S BEDROOM

SAMI: Don’t worry honey. It happens. It doesn’t mean anything.
RAFE: Of course. I must just be tired. I’m sorry. It’s been a long day.
SAMI: Yes it has. Let’s just sleep. Hold me?
RAFE: You got it. Come here Blondie.
Sami quickly drifts off to sleep, but Rafe stays awake. It’s the first time in his life that he’s been unable to perform. Was it because of the fight? Is he getting old? Or is it because he can still smell Carrie’s perfume? He closes his eyes and drifts back to their dance in the studio. A smile appears on his lips. He falls asleep humming the song they danced to. Across town, Carrie is also humming the same song while her husband sleeps.
